Things to consider—

Since early 2011, Obama's been waging proxy war on Syria. Imported death squads masquerade as freedom fighters. The scheme's familiar. It repeats. It reflects US imperialism's dark side. In the 1980s, CIA-recruited mujahideen fighters battled Afghanistan's Soviet occupiers. Ronald Reagan called them "the moral equivalent of our founding fathers." He characterized Contra killers the same way. —Stephen LendmanFor over a century now US ambassadors have acted as fifth columns in the nations they are embedded in, their role chiefly to foster corporate and plutocratic power and coordinate machinations against any truly pro-democratic government.•••••"The dead end identity politics of SF Pride, which sells out a peace hero like Bradley Manning to curry favor with the American ruling class, is what I had in mind. The empire loves your tameness, irrelevance and cowardice, SF Pride. You don’t bother the American ruling class — a five foot two, 105 pound soldier does because he has a conscience and because he didn’t make comfort the guiding principle of his life...." —Randy Shields

THEY ARE GOING TO LYNCH ME.  Already they gather at the gate, and they have a rope Maybe I can plea bargain down to tar and feathers. I doubt it, though.

Some time ago I discovered Fox News (Honest: For the preceding ten years I didn’t have TV). Fox seemed to me politically dangerous, being, as I thought anyway, the voice of a huge, angry, and badly uninformed lower middle class. From such, in times of economic decline, come Brown Shirts. President Obama listens to General Electric’s Chief Executive Jeffrey Immelt speak at GE headquarters in Schenectady, N.Y.. Obama named Immelt to head a new economic advisory panel focused on promoting growth by investing in business. (Reuters)

By Robert Scheer

If it had been revealed that Jeffrey Immelt once hired an undocumented nanny, or defaulted on his mortgage, he would be forced to resign as head of President Barack Obama’s “Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.” But the fact that General Electric, where Immelt is CEO, didn’t pay taxes on its $14.5 billion profit last year—and indeed is asking for a $3.2 billion tax rebate—has not produced a word of criticism from the president, who in January praised Immelt as a business leader who “understands what it takes for America to compete in the global economy.” Continue reading »

Troubling new data reported on Military Times by Rick Daze show there are an average of 950 suicide attempts each month by veterans who are receiving some type of treatment from the Veterans Affairs Department. Seven percent of the attempts are successful, and 11 percent of those who don’t succeed on the first attempt try again within nine months. 18 veterans commit suicide each day…—Eds.

Real vet Ron Kovic instructing Tom Cruise for biopic Born on the 4th of July

YOU SEE THEM HERE AND THERE, usually in countries where they can afford to live, barely—Thailand, Cambodia, Mexico. They are the Pentagon’s throwaways. There is the old guy, old now anyway, who took several rounds in one of our previous pointless wars, one in Asia, and ended in constant irremediable pain. Little was, or is, visibly wrong with him. Nerve damage is hard to see. Some parts don’t move as well as they ought, but it’s nothing he couldn’t live with. Continue reading »

WITH EISENHOWER FAREWELL SPEECH VIDEO (COMPLETE)

Dwight Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States of America

Previous articles discussed America’s culture of violence at home and abroad. Its entire history, in fact, is blood-drenched, glorifying conflicts in the name of peace, waging them every year in US history against one or more domestic and/or foreign adversaries.

Moreover, since WW II, America’s had a permanent war agenda for unchallengeable global dominance throughout decades without enemies since Japan surrendered on August 15, 1945.

In a crowded field of repulsive politicians from both parties bent on betraying the public interest, John Kasich (R) is a standsout.

AFTER MORE THAN A MONTH OF PROTESTS, the Republican governor of Ohio signed Senate Bill 5 in a brief statehouse ceremony Thursday evening, putting into a law an unprecedented attack on the 360,000 workers who provide public services in the Midwestern US state. Continue reading »
