Things to consider—

Since early 2011, Obama's been waging proxy war on Syria. Imported death squads masquerade as freedom fighters. The scheme's familiar. It repeats. It reflects US imperialism's dark side. In the 1980s, CIA-recruited mujahideen fighters battled Afghanistan's Soviet occupiers. Ronald Reagan called them "the moral equivalent of our founding fathers." He characterized Contra killers the same way. —Stephen LendmanFor over a century now US ambassadors have acted as fifth columns in the nations they are embedded in, their role chiefly to foster corporate and plutocratic power and coordinate machinations against any truly pro-democratic government.•••••"The dead end identity politics of SF Pride, which sells out a peace hero like Bradley Manning to curry favor with the American ruling class, is what I had in mind. The empire loves your tameness, irrelevance and cowardice, SF Pride. You don’t bother the American ruling class — a five foot two, 105 pound soldier does because he has a conscience and because he didn’t make comfort the guiding principle of his life...." —Randy Shields

AIPAC is an unregistered foreign agent representing Israel. Edward Said once called it “the most powerful and feared lobby in Washington.”  Calling itself “America’s Pro-Israel Lobby,” it’s represented Israeli interests since founded in 1953. In 1963, it was incorporated as a division of the American Zionist Council (AZC), its precursor.  For decades, it’s been very successful subverting opposition to Israel’s agenda. Virtually no one in Congress confronts it. Doing so would be a career-ender.

Notably, it’s had virtual veto power over war and peace, trade and investment, multi-billion dollar arms sales, enormous handouts to Israel, and all Middle East policies affecting the Jewish state under Democrat and Republican administrations alike.

Deferentially, politicians, presidents, their hangers-on, media scoundrels and others pay it due homage and the government it represents. As a result, everyone pays dearly.

Socialism has never been tried full-scale, as Capitalism has. We have unfettered Capitalism Globally for 200 years, and NOWHERE, and I mean NOWHERE has this produced a population that is sound, healthy, informed and at Peace.”

I’m not gonna say it’s time to hoard up, board up, arm up and batten down.

They are. You see, according to a Trader speaking with the BBC yesterday, total collapse is coming within the year. And this, like totally rocks it out man, because, you know, like the Depression, they can make sooo much money off it dudes… cuz they know how to.

Its not like its just miss doom and gloom here, warning you for the last 4 years or so that this was coming anymore. No, not one of my apocalyptic fictions this time, nor screeds about how the rich don’t care about us useless eaters. In fact why bother telling you the sky is falling on everyone but a few demonic souls, or repeating rants about how Class Warfare is killing us? I used to feel like a prophet in the wilderness, speaking a secret code no one got but me and a few of my kindreds. We knew governments and votes were Kabuki. We yelled it from mountaintops, “Money talks, bullshit walks and they just bought your feet.”

The code isn’t so secret anymore. In fact, they aren’t just overt about it, they are brazen.

“The Governments don’t rule the World. Goldman-Sachs rule the World.”

There will be no recovery. You either have enough to invest in buying out the broke now, and invest in hedging your bets, insuring yourself against the inevitable losers.

Solidarity and Fraternization in the Streets
By LINH DINH

“Wall Street got drunk […] It got drunk and now it’s got a hangover.”
                                                                                 —George W. Bush

As usual, Bush got it wrong. Wall Street soberly and cynically got the rest of us drunk on dreams of homeownership, a robust stock portfolio and a cozy retirement. This slurry bacchanal was fueled by the housing bubble and, when that exploded in our faces, bailouts saved Wall Street from any hangover, so it’s us who will suffer through a torturous, decades-long headache of a ruined economy.

But who are us, exactly? Us are the poor and the middle class, unions, retirement funds and governments at all levels, federal, state and city. Us are 99%, according to the mostly young protesters at Liberty Park in NYC. Nearly everyone got ripped off, including the cops guarding these protesters. As a protest sign sweetly and innocently demands: “Say Sorry! To All of Us!” Continue reading »

Saving the Rich, Losing the Economy

By PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS

Economic policy in the United States and Europe has failed, and people are suffering.

People sit next to a paperboard reading "begging for food, nowhere to go" near a demolition site in Beijing. Victims of a capitalist "miracle" that has made some rich and many more terribly poor.

Economic policy failed for three reasons:  (1) policymakers focused on enabling offshoring corporations to move middle class jobs, and the consumer demand, tax base, GDP, and careers associated with the jobs, to foreign countries, such as China and India, where labor is inexpensive; (2) policymakers permitted financial deregulation that unleashed fraud and debt leverage on a scale previously unimaginable; (3) policymakers responded to the resulting financial crisis by imposing austerity on the population and running the printing press in order to bail out banks and prevent any losses to the banks regardless of the cost to national economies and innocent parties. “The UN is therefore part of the problem and will never bring justice to the Palestinians.”

M. Abbas

On September 23 in New York, a State Department “Special Briefing” was held. An unnamed “Senior Administration Official” commented on the Quartet’s Palestinian statehood proposal, saying:

“As the Palestinians develop(ed) their own ideas of what was necessary in terms of (petitioning the UN), we were intensively engaged with them in providing ideas for an alternative path.”  That says it all! It reveals the Washington/Israeli/EU/Ban Ki-moon duplicitous strategy to subvert Palestinian statehood by a combination of diversion, delay and exclusion from debate on what Palestinians most want and deserve.

It includes unconditional sovereignty within 1967 borders (22% of historic Palestine), total control over their own lives, Israel’s occupation and Gaza’s siege ended, fixed borders, diaspora Palestinians’ right of return, settlement construction ended, and East Jerusalem as their capital.

BY KATE RANDALL

22 September 2011

The world looked on in horror Wednesday night as death row inmate Troy Davis was executed by lethal injection at the state prison near Jackson, Georgia.  The state-sanctioned murder was the final grisly episode in a judicial travesty that spanned more than two decades. It stands as a damning indictment of the entire political system and a shameful episode in the history of the United States.

The death of Davis was ensured after the US Supreme Court rejected a last-minute appeal for a stay at about 10:20 pm. At 10:53, a sedative was injected into his veins, rendering him unconscious. A second injection paralyzed all muscles, causing suffocation. The final injection induced a massive heart attack, causing death at 11:08 pm. Continue reading »
