Things to consider—

Since early 2011, Obama's been waging proxy war on Syria. Imported death squads masquerade as freedom fighters. The scheme's familiar. It repeats. It reflects US imperialism's dark side. In the 1980s, CIA-recruited mujahideen fighters battled Afghanistan's Soviet occupiers. Ronald Reagan called them "the moral equivalent of our founding fathers." He characterized Contra killers the same way. —Stephen LendmanFor over a century now US ambassadors have acted as fifth columns in the nations they are embedded in, their role chiefly to foster corporate and plutocratic power and coordinate machinations against any truly pro-democratic government.•••••"The dead end identity politics of SF Pride, which sells out a peace hero like Bradley Manning to curry favor with the American ruling class, is what I had in mind. The empire loves your tameness, irrelevance and cowardice, SF Pride. You don’t bother the American ruling class — a five foot two, 105 pound soldier does because he has a conscience and because he didn’t make comfort the guiding principle of his life...." —Randy Shields

An impertinent question: Why do Americans seeking to demonstrate their grievances according to the Constitution-protected rules of free speech are treated as delinquents and denied this elementary democratic right?  Isn’t the behavior of police a direct denial of Constitutional freedom to assemble and petition? Where are the courts?  Where is the Obama justice department? Hmmm.  These things can’t happen in America, eh? The American people have been gradually robbed of their free speech guarantees by creeping municipal and state “permitization.” No prior permit is required by the Constitution and to accede to this practice is to insure its continuity. —Eds

A BROADER SEGMENT OF AMERICANS of all races and classes (except the top)
are beginning to taste police repression for the first time. It’s clear that the ruling orders think that the two-pronged approach, intimidation and co-optation, will succeed in controlling this burgeoning movement. While some will undoubtedly stop open participation, many will go on putting pressure on the system, as it is the system’s core dynamic that created the crisis and it’s not ready to abandon it any time soon. AS SEEN ON THE DYLAN RATIGAN SHOW (MSNBC)  10.25.11
With special analysis provided by Andre Damon (see below)

NOW THAT THERE’S A RE-ELECTION campaign to worry about Obama, the supreme con artist, is suddenly popping all over the place mouthing all sorts of fiery populist rhetoric.  The usual suckers will fall for that act, of course, but the man is still who he is, a profoundly compromised politician in the service of plutocratic interests. As far as Obama is concerned, photo ops and soundbites can still advance the cause, ergo, this sudden spate of  ”help the people” initiatives.

How to Turn Up the Heat on Democrats

Obama and his “business as usual” Democrats and faux left demagogs are a huge obstacle to the birth of real progressive politics in the US.  They must be opposed at all times and removed from the equation.

by JOHN STAUBER

President Barack Obama is no longer running unchallenged in all the major primary states, thanks to activists in Iowa who are focusing their Occupy Wall Street activism onto the headquarters of the Obama for President campaign office this Saturday, October 22,  in Des Moines.

The “Occupy Obama” event is being organized in part  by veteran rabble rouser Hugh Espey (left) and his highly effective Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement, a grassroots force that has been fighting for economic and social justice since the 1970s.  CCI members are already participating in Occupy Wall Street actions in nine Iowa towns.  Occupy Obama seems a logical next step to escalate the movement further into national view and create the potential for debate and organizing within the Iowa presidential caucuses in January. EVENTS CONTINUE to demonstrate that sooner rather than later the protest movement may need to organize itself into a tougher, better organized party of the working people.

 By Joseph Kishore, WSWS.ORG

The Occupy Wall Street protests against inequality, which began in New York City over a month ago and have since expanded to hundreds of cities and towns throughout the United States and internationally, have arrived at a political crossroads.

The ruling class has responded with a two-pronged strategy. Attempts to channel political discontent back within the political system have been combined with a growing wave of arrests and stepped-up police violence.

#OccupyOAKLAND protester (left) wounded by police in recent clashes. Where’s the outcry in the media, and above all, Obama and the rest of the politicians?

Mark Vorpahl, Worker’s Action

The bottom line for our time is: Believe NOTHING the powerful tell you, especially when the message comes from their main shills, like Barack Obama

Two back-to-back victories, from the point of view of those in power, has left some commentators speculating that U.S. foreign policy has turned a page towards a less militaristic approach under the guidance of President Obama. These events are the killing of Colonel Qaddafi, leading Libya’s new leaders to declare liberation, followed by Obama’s announcement that all U.S. troops in Iraq will be back home by the end of the year.
