Things to consider—

Since early 2011, Obama's been waging proxy war on Syria. Imported death squads masquerade as freedom fighters. The scheme's familiar. It repeats. It reflects US imperialism's dark side. In the 1980s, CIA-recruited mujahideen fighters battled Afghanistan's Soviet occupiers. Ronald Reagan called them "the moral equivalent of our founding fathers." He characterized Contra killers the same way. —Stephen LendmanFor over a century now US ambassadors have acted as fifth columns in the nations they are embedded in, their role chiefly to foster corporate and plutocratic power and coordinate machinations against any truly pro-democratic government.•••••"The dead end identity politics of SF Pride, which sells out a peace hero like Bradley Manning to curry favor with the American ruling class, is what I had in mind. The empire loves your tameness, irrelevance and cowardice, SF Pride. You don’t bother the American ruling class — a five foot two, 105 pound soldier does because he has a conscience and because he didn’t make comfort the guiding principle of his life...." —Randy Shields

“Know thy enemy”—Sun Tzu
MEDIA CRITIQUES

theblaze.com

By P. Greanville

As usual, the Wiki is much too polite in its impartiality to call this website for what it is: an insidious, fetid outgrowth of one of America’s most malignant media creatures: Glenn Beck.  The site is elegantly designed and amply supported by tons of advertisers, thereby providing stylistic comfort to the incautious.  This fact scarcely surprises us since such media turds always seem to swim in dough and enjoy the tacit support of powerful figures in the plutocracy.  We’re calling the site insidious because its contents are being obviously modulated to tone down Beck’s customary fascistic lunacy and complete disregard for truth. Below a few excerpts from the Wikipedia: Continue reading »

Thank you, WSWS.ORG.

US President Barack Obama pledged Sunday to deliver “non-lethal” supplies to Western-backed anti-government insurgents in Syria. The announcement came as Kofi Annan, due to head a United Nations mission to Damascus, was in Moscow for talks with the Russian government on the crisis in Syria.

Obama’s announcement was made following talks with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the eve of the nuclear security conference taking place Monday and Tuesday in Seoul, South Korea. Turkey has played host to Syrian opposition forces, including the main opposition bloc, the Syrian National Council (SNC), and its military wing, the Free Syrian Army (FSA). The US president stated that he and Erdogan agreed that foreign assistance to these armed opposition groups would aid the transition to a “legitimate government.” Continue reading »

Occupy Wall Street Must Battle 70 Years of Corporate Propaganda

Ayn Rand: Priestess of naked capitalism. For reactionaries and corporadoes, the ghoul that keeps on giving.

by PAM MARTENS

The high priestess of corporate deregulation and free markets, Ayn Rand, wrote a novella in the 1930s.  It was published in the U.S. in 1946 under the title, Anthem, by a corporate front group, a precursor to today’s astroturf groups.  Anthem is currently being pumped into high schools across the U.S. and Canada with financial inducements to both teachers and students by a corporate funded nonprofit that has the financial support of some of the largest hedge funds in the U.S. Continue reading »

Many Israelis are aghast at the constant (and escalating) talk of war against Iran.

Israelis aren’t all like Netanyahu and Knesset extremists like him. Most want peace, not war. On March 24, Haaretz headlined, “Hundreds of Israelis march in Tel Aviv to protest war with Iran,” saying:

A Ronny Edry/Michal Tamir “Israelis against a war with Iran” Facebook campaign linked anti-war Israeli and Iranian citizens. It inspired protesters after it went viral, saying:

“The newspaper headlines tell the tale: The prime minister is trying to legitimize an Israeli attack on Iran, which is expected soon.”

Another post read:

“Most of the Israeli public is opposed to an adventure of this sort that may have catastrophic consequences. Many experts warn of the results an attack on Iran and a declaration of war of this sort may bring. Iran is expected to respond, meaning there would be many Israeli casualties.” Continue reading »

Ralph Nader was right in calling Obamacare a sellout to Big PhAMA and other healthcare giants.
.
Last November, the Supreme Court agreed to hear challenge arguments against Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) – aka Obamacare.   From March 26 – 28, oral arguments on PPACA’s constitutionality will be heard, especially certain provisions. A decision is expected by June.

Contentious issues include:

• mandating all adults have health insurance or be taxed to compensate;
• PPACA’s Medicaid expansion provisions; and

• whether the Anti-Injunction Act bars courts from reviewing the individual mandate until it’s effective in January 2014;

• “severability” also is also at issue: namely, whether one issue can be struck down while leaving others intact. Continue reading »
