We're engaged in a protracted mass communications battle, a contest of propagandas, Their object is to prop up the system's legitimacy; ours precisely the opposite. The core of a system's illegitimacy is nothing more nor less than its easily demonstrable Orwellian nature. If it claims to be a democracy it must be a plutocracy; if it proclaims to defend the safety of its population, it actively endangers it; if it struts around loudly shouting its allegiance to freedom and the rule of law, it is in actuality a cynical hidden dictatorship; If it brags about its "free press", then you know for sure that it is an abject, servile tool of the power elites. Of course the most infamous contradiction is that when this hypocritical scum kneel before the altar of peace they are actively engaged in making war. On and on. Always the opposite of what it claims. In America, especially, anyone awake can see that readily. The inevitable propaganda picture—for American consumption. Ah, the happy, “liberated” Libyan…the people enjoy their new democracy. Well done, America!—Eds

In their book titled “Demonstration Elections,” Edward Herman and Frank Broadhead described US-staged elections. They’re manipulated to consolidate American power and influence public opinion to believe sham processes are legitimate. Herman and Broadhead defined what goes on as:

“A circus held in a client state to assure the population of the home country that their intrusion is well received.”
“The results are guaranteed by an adequate supply of bullets provided in advance.” They’re freely used to achieve desired outcomes.

The authors’ main theme was that “elections held under conditions of military occupation and extensive pre-election ‘pacification’ ” aren’t free. They’re conducted to install client regimes. Those in charge are pro-Western puppets, not legitimate leaders. Continue reading »

An Argentine court has convicted two of the nation’s former right-wing dictators, Jorge Rafael Videla and Reynaldo Bignone, in a scheme to murder leftist mothers and give their infants to military personnel often complicit in the killings, a shocking process known to the Reagan administration even as it worked closely with the bloody regime.

Testimony at the trial included a videoconference from Washington with Elliott Abrams, then-Secretary of State for Latin American Affairs, who said he urged Bignone to reveal the babies’ identities as Argentina began a transition to democracy in 1983. Continue reading »
