Things to consider—

Since early 2011, Obama's been waging proxy war on Syria. Imported death squads masquerade as freedom fighters. The scheme's familiar. It repeats. It reflects US imperialism's dark side. In the 1980s, CIA-recruited mujahideen fighters battled Afghanistan's Soviet occupiers. Ronald Reagan called them "the moral equivalent of our founding fathers." He characterized Contra killers the same way. —Stephen LendmanFor over a century now US ambassadors have acted as fifth columns in the nations they are embedded in, their role chiefly to foster corporate and plutocratic power and coordinate machinations against any truly pro-democratic government.•••••"The dead end identity politics of SF Pride, which sells out a peace hero like Bradley Manning to curry favor with the American ruling class, is what I had in mind. The empire loves your tameness, irrelevance and cowardice, SF Pride. You don’t bother the American ruling class — a five foot two, 105 pound soldier does because he has a conscience and because he didn’t make comfort the guiding principle of his life...." —Randy Shields

Revolt, Rebellion and Revolution: some precedents.

Pre-Revolution in America and Successful Revolution in Russia

Non-violence is not enough.

Gaither Stewart

(Rome): As a contribution to the ongoing discussion in America about the what-to-do of the post-OWS period, I have listed here some of the major tactics employed in Russia dating from 1860 which eventually developed into a successful strategy in the Russian Revolution of 1917 that shook the world.

In the biography, Dostoïevsky, by Henri Troyat of the Academie Française, I ran into the following description of the pre-revolutionary events in the era of the liberal and modernizing Tsar, Alexander II. In the years 1861-62, the Tsar and his civil servants, who had just eliminated serfdom, quickly came to understand that that long-awaited act had come too late to satisfy the truly liberal forces in Russia.

The events depicted by Troyat in which Dostoevsky himself was an unwilling actor led inexorably to the first Russian Revolution of 1904-1905 and subsequently to the Great Russian Revolution of 1917 ultimately led by Lenin. Continue reading »

Who has he not betrayed—except his paymasters? And he knows it, too.

Obama targets humanity at home and abroad. Illinoisans paying attention knew long ago. He served as senator for the state’s 13th district.

He sold out straightaway. Real estate interests had their man. Gentrification demolitions rewarded them. Poor folks were driven out. Most were Black.  Banking, finance, insurance, and real estate interests comprised his political base then and now. Needs of constituents he represented were ignored. Community uplift rhetoric disguised harming people who needed help. Continue reading »

A Syrian boy jumps off a destroyed army armoured vehicle in the northern town of Atareb, 25 kms east of Syria’s second largest city Aleppo, on July 31, 2012.

An article published last week in the New York Times on the spillover of sectarian tensions from Syria into Turkey belies the “democratic” and “humanitarian” pretexts for the ever more violent drive for regime change by the US and its allies.  Times correspondent Jeffrey Gettleman reports from Antakya, the capital of Turkey’s southern province of Hatay, which borders on Syria and the Mediterranean. He begins by describing a lynch-mob assault on the home of the Evli family, whom he describes as “Alawite, a historically persecuted minority sect of Islam, and also the sect of Syria’s embattled leaders.” Continue reading »

Knowing how rotten and mendacious the American media normally are, this occurrence should not be remarkable in any way, and, technically, it isn’t. It’s just that the toxicity of the imperialist media has reached such bodacious levels that now, openly engaged in a campaign of propaganda to topple the Syrian government of Pres. Assad, and spread war throughout the Mideast, it will use any public figure it can lay its hypocritical tentacles on, to fan its lies, and who could do that better than the card-carrying Zionist warmonger par excellence …the unsinkable Joe Lieberman?

If you haven’t heard about this man, you haven’t been awake the last few decades. For Lieberman is special.  Fact is, in the utterly slimy field of US politics Sen. Joe Lieberman—from Connecticut, no less—stands out…for outsize cynicism and sheer rottenness.  Yea, we said SLIMY, as in:

In any self-respecting party this character would have been kicked out long ago, but, true to its jelly-like spine,  the Democratic leadership did absolutely nothing when this notorious bastard openly sided with “the enemy.” Not once, but several times.  And he was then wooed to stay in the fold…emetics anyone?  Granted that in American politics ideology, not to mention principle, count for zilch, except when it comes to vociferous loyalty to capitalism, Zionism, imperialism and the rest of that insalubrious brew that constitutes, in effect, America’s true religion.

Anyhow, here’s CBS This Morning residents courtiers, the disgustingly unctuous Charlie Rose and Gayle King extending the red carpet to Lieberman.  (Aug. 7, 2012)

Whose media is this, you may ask?
