OBSCENE! but not heard!
By Woody NinetyNiner Konopak

The official unemployment rate fell from 8.3 to 8.1 percent, not because MORE jobs were created but because unemployment benefits expired for a another, couple hundred thousand disemployed workers, who won’t be counted anymore as “unemployed” because they no longer need to check in with the DoL every week as a condition of getting the checks they won’t be getting anymore.

There will be a steady drop in the RATE, for a while, as more and more of those OTHER “99ers”–whose benefits were extended another 99 weeks, by which time the economy was supposed to have recovered sufficiently to put them back to work? Remember?–fall into that category of jobless, but not “unemployed.”

I read somewhere: If you are OVER 50 and were among the casualties of the Great Disemployment of 2007/-9, there is less than a ONE-IN-FIVE chance that you will EVER regain whatever level of affluence you once enjoyed.
