Pro-Israeli Media Coverage ANNOTATED NEWS, ISRAEL, The Middle East, THE PENTAGON-MEDIA COMPLEX, US Foreign Policy, Zionist Occupation Comments Off Nov 162012 By Stephen Lendman Israeli tanks massing on Gaza’s borders. Haven’t we seen this before countless times? ___________________ Gaza rockets respond defensively to provocative Israeli bombing and shelling. Blame the victim articles and commentaries follow. It’s standard Western media practice. Haaretz knows better. More below on woeful coverage. Since Saturday, Israeli air strikes killed at least seven Palestinians, injured dozens more, and damaged or destroyed civilian property. Israel committed war crimes. Media reports ignored them. War winds blow ominously. In early November, Israel dropped leaflets on Gaza. Palestinians were warned about popular resistance militancy. They were also told not to approach border areas on their own land. Continue reading » Did you like this? Share it:
Life, Death and Deficits ANTI-CORPORATISM, BATTLE OF COMMUNICATIONS, CAPITALISM & SOCIALISM, CLASS STRUGGLE, CORPORATE CRIMES, CULTURE & CRITICISM, GOVERNMENT CRIMES, GREAT HYPOCRISY Comments Off Nov 162012 OP-ED COLUMNIST Life, Death and Deficits By PAUL KRUGMAN SUGGESTED BY GLORIA STEVENSON America’s political landscape is infested with many zombie ideas — beliefs about policy that have been repeatedly refuted with evidence and analysis but refuse to die. The most prominent zombie is the insistence that low taxes on rich people are the key to prosperity. But there are others. And right now the most dangerous zombie is probably the claim that rising life expectancy justifies a rise in both the Social Security retirement age and the age of eligibility for Medicare. Even some Democrats — including, according to reports, the president — have seemed susceptible to this argument. But it’s a cruel, foolish idea — cruel in the case of Social Security, foolish in the case of Medicare — and we shouldn’t let it eat our brains. Continue reading » Did you like this? Share it:
Ahmed al-Jabari (1960 – 2012) ACTIVISTS & HEROES, ANNOTATED NEWS, ANTIWAR, CLASS STRUGGLE, ISRAEL, PALESTINIANS, PROPAGANDA Comments Off Nov 162012 by Stephen Lendman Ahmed al-Jabari (l), days before his assassination. On November 15, thousands in Gaza City residents mourned al-Jabari ‘s assassination. Israel murdered him the previous day in cold blood. Score another victory for occupation harshness. Add one to the column of Israeli crimes against humanity. Volumes are needed to list them. Israel lives by the sword of injustice. One day perhaps it will perish for its villainy. Hamas officials and Qassam Brigades leaders stayed away from al-Jabari ‘s funeral for their safety. They’re marked men. IDF spokesman General Yoav Mordechai said, “Were I a Hamas operative, I would opt to shelter underground.” Continue reading » Did you like this? Share it:

The technocratic rationale Mr. Obama will offer is ‘demographics,’ the fact that, class differences aside, people are living longer than we used to. And for the susceptible among us, some misdirection about ‘living beyond our means’ will be added for good measure. Continue reading » Did you like this? Share it:
Democrats and the Fiscal Cliff: The Coming “Historic Betrayal” AMERICAN STUDIES, ASSHOLES, BASTARDS & CRIMINALS, CAPITALISM & SOCIALISM, CITIZEN TOOLS, CLASS STRUGGLE, CORPORATE OWNED PARTIES, CULTURE & CRITICISM, GREAT HYPOCRISY, IDEOLOGICAL STRUGGLE, INDECENT SLIMEBALLS Comments Off Nov 162012 by SHAMUS COOKE Obama only wants to tax the rich enough to be able to sell the grand bargain to the American public; any grand bargain will include historic cuts to cherished national programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, and Obama wants to avoid some of the outrage by claiming that the rich were forced to share in the “sacrifice” too…” Literally the day after the election a sudden “urgency” gripped the nation: the imminent danger of the so-called “fiscal cliff” — the national automatic tax increases and spending cuts due in January. The media screamed that the suddenly approaching fiscal cliff would trigger a recession, forcing Democrats and Republicans to consider a “grand bargain” budget deal to avoid disaster. US Occupy movement has lost momentum: Shamus Cooke explains why ACTIVISTS & HEROES, AMERICAN STUDIES, ARCHIVES, BATTLE OF COMMUNICATIONS, CAPITALISM & SOCIALISM, CITIZEN TOOLS, CLASS STRUGGLE, CULTURE & CRITICISM Comments Off Nov 162012 Meanwhile, Occupy Movements in Europe and elsewhere surge ahead. Why the difference? FROM OUR ARCHIVES Shamus Cooke “A healthy debate has finally gripped the Occupy Movement: there is now a discussion over strategy. Most Occupiers have learned that raw enthusiasm alone cannot bring victory to a social movement; ideas matter too. Action divorced from strategy equals wasted energy, divisiveness, diversions and unnecessary mistakes. Not all tactics push the movement forward. . . . Why this debate now? Anyone paying attention can tell that the Occupy Movement has lost momentum.” —Shamus Cooke To read Cooke’s original article, click on the linked title below. Will Occupy Spring Forward Or Meltdown? by Shamus Cooke, Countercurrents.org, February 12, 2012 Raw enthusiasm alone cannot bring victory to a social movement A healthy debate has finally gripped the Occupy Movement: there is now a discussion over strategy. The Wrong Petraeus Scandal AMERICAN STUDIES, ANTI-CORPORATISM, ANTIWAR, ASSHOLES, BASTARDS & CRIMINALS, BATTLE OF COMMUNICATIONS, THE PENTAGON-MEDIA COMPLEX, US Foreign Policy Comments Off Nov 162012 Only in America… The Wrong Petraeus Scandal A distraction and almost irrelevant to the actual focus of his crimes. by RANDALL AMSTER The media blitz is fully engaged around the latest Washington sex scandals, and with it come nascent cheers from some anti-war sectors over the public unraveling of the top brass who have helped to orchestrate the longest war in U.S. history. On email threads and in the blogosphere, one is likely to view celebratory remarks laced with words like “comeuppance,” “karma,” and “justice.” Yet while it may be true that there’s a certain element of ironic remuneration in all of this, it’s also the case that such episodes can serve to draw our focus toward the wrong issues and the wrong scandals. AIPAC Lobby Gets Drubbed in US Elections AMERICAN STUDIES, BATTLE OF COMMUNICATIONS, CORPORATE OWNED PARTIES, CULTURE & CRITICISM, IRAN, ISRAEL, Zionist Occupation 1 Response » Nov 162012 Zionist Lobby Gets Drubbed in US Elections AIPAC Takes a Big Hit Fear-mongering at work in Florida. The billboards, paid for by the Florida-local American Principles SuperPAC, were part of a bigger ad buy:“American Principles SuperPAC is pleased to announce its first major outdoor media buy in several metro areas. To date, the PAC has posted 43 billboards throughout Florida and initiated an email and internet media campaign targeting independent and undecided voters in “swing” states. Additional outdoor media, combined with social media and traditional initiatives, are in the works for several states….” by DAVE LINDORFF One little-noted but important result of the November election in the US that returned President Barack Obama to the White House for another four years is that the right-wing Israeli government and the Zionist lobbying organization AIPAC (for American Israel Public Affairs Committee) took a surprising drubbing and emerge a much weaker political influence going forward in US politics. Naked Israeli Aggression ANNOTATED NEWS, ANTI-CORPORATISM, ANTIWAR, ASSHOLES, BASTARDS & CRIMINALS, BATTLE OF COMMUNICATIONS, GOVERNMENT CRIMES, INTERNATIONAL, ISRAEL, PALESTINIANS, THE PENTAGON-MEDIA COMPLEX Comments Off Nov 162012 by Stephen Lendman Palestinian father kisses baby girl killed by recent Israeli airstrike. While Israelis also suffer occasional casualties, the ratio of dead and wounded is grotesquely stacked against the Palestinians, a reflection of their lack of heavy weapons, including tanks, air force, a navy and so on, not to mention extremely sophisticated rocket delivery systems. Meanwhile, as this endless war rages, in lalaland the inhabitants, whose country has so much to do with this horrid situation, prepare for their Thanksgiving fest while the networks burn scandalous amount of time in the usual frivolities, including countless shopping and cooking shows. How long can a superpower like this stand without collapsing from moral rot?—PG Since 1948, Israel waged varying intensity war on Palestine. Crimes of war, against humanity, and genocide are committed regularly. World community inaction lets Israel get away with murder. Operation Pillar of Cloud (aka Cloud Column/Pillar of Defense) is Israel’s latest naked aggression. “And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them the way, and by night in a pillar of fire; to give them the light; to go by day and night:” Exodus 13.21.
