JOHN WIGHT—In penetrating the foundational myths by which the US sustains itself – rugged individualism, self reliance, the apotheosis of private property and personal wealth, seasoned with Old Testament virtues of work, self discipline, and the exaltation of ‘righteous’ violence – we come face to face with an ugly and suppurating reality in the form of the widespread atomisation of society, white supremacy, along with a pervasive yet irrational fear of central government, fueled by conspiracy theory.

Think!

^0Americans are the most over-entertained, uninformed people on the planet.^3000

Ignorant about domestic and geopolitical issues mattering most.^3000

The most important act anyone can do is stop using all mainstream media.^3000

No exceptions whatsoever. It’s brainwash propaganda. ^3000

Toxic sludge for the mind.^3000

Voices like this are NEVER heard on the mainstream media.^3000

The "1%" is the global plutocracy, the billionaires.^3000

A sociopathic, puny segment of humanity.^3000

These people pretend to honor and defend democracy.^3000

But are its murderers and undertakers. ^3000

Gross injustice, war, grotesque inequality is their handiwork. ^3000

And the murder of the planet^3000

Just 8 billionaires own as much wealth as HALF of all humanity.^3000

That's 8 guys are richer than 4 billion people.^3000

The corporate media is their main line of defense.^3000

That's why the best way to break their hold on us...^3000

Is to break their media.^3000

The corporate chokehold on political information is killing us.^3000

Save humanity, the planet and its innocent creatures.^3000

Increase public distrust in the mainstream media.^3000

Defeat their power to mislead.^3000

They lie 24/7. They sell you war. Injustice. Death. Confusion.^3000

And they never stop.^3000

Some more obviously than others, but they all lie. ^3000

So trust no one on the Big Media.^3000

And beware of "entertainment shows". ^3000

Most also carry highly toxic imperialist propaganda.^3000

Like the fungal NCIS series. Or "24", glorifying DHS. ^3000

The police state.^3000

Or CBS Madam Secretary. ^3000

A ridiculous show, like The West Wing. ^3000

Telling us the US government is good.^3000

That the president is good...that its cabinet is good.^3000

That the US establishment—which they represent...^3000

has noble aims. Rubbish!^3000

Get the healing truth from citizens' media.^3000

Like The Greanville Post and similar free voices. ^3000

Do your part to break the power of the mainstream media.^3000

Defeat the presstitutes. The media felons.^3000

Become a soldier in the battle of communications. ^3000

Which we must win.^3000

THE BULLET—“Whoever expects a ‘pure’ social revolution will never live to see it. Such a person pays lip-service to revolution without understanding what revolution is,” wrote Lenin in 1916 about the Easter Rising. Today, we are not facing a revolution, but his words nevertheless apply to the Catalan reality. Faced with the imperfections of the Catalan independence movement, the Left has two options: opt for a passive policy that will involuntarily exacerbate the movement’s deficiencies, or follow an active policy that intervenes in reality and pushes the process in a more progressive direction.

Parting shot—a word from the editors
The Best Definition of Donald Trump We Have Found

In his zeal to prove to his antagonists in the War Party that he is as bloodthirsty as their champion, Hillary Clinton, and more manly than Barack Obama, Trump seems to have gone “play-crazy” — acting like an unpredictable maniac in order to terrorize the Russians into forcing some kind of dramatic concessions from their Syrian allies, or risk Armageddon. However, the “play-crazy” gambit can only work when the leader is, in real life, a disciplined and intelligent actor, who knows precisely what actual boundaries must not be crossed. That ain’t Donald Trump — a pitifully shallow and ill-disciplined man, emotionally handicapped by obscene privilege and cognitively crippled by white American chauvinism. By pushing Trump into a corner and demanding that he display his most bellicose self, or be ceaselessly mocked as a “puppet” and minion of Russia, a lesser power, the War Party and its media and clandestine services have created a perfect storm of mayhem that may consume us all. 1. This phrase of yours, “the near total lack of social cohesion,” is great. But I would not call it a “gun culture.” I would call it a “culture of separateness.” Charles Eisenstein calls it the “story of separation,” in his book “More Beautiful World,” which is available at https://charleseisenstein.net/books/the-more-beautiful-world-our-hearts-know-is-possible/eng/separation/ . He explores the psychology of separateness from all angles, brilliantly. But the psychology is just the inside. It’s reflected on the outside: capitalism is the economics of separateness. It’s more visible, because we can’t see what is in other people’s heads, but we can see what is in their hands. We can’t care about others while competing against them. Seventeenth century philosopher Thomas Hobbes called our culture a “war of all against all,” and he seemed to think it was the natural state of humans. But that war was not practiced by hunter-gatherers, nor by many later indigeneous tribes. We don’t have to go back to being hunter-gatherers to save ourselves from this terrible alienation, but we do have to learn something from our hunter-gatherer ancestors and change our way of life very fundamentally.
