Here is Jason Ditz on the coming end of the world:

Vladimir Soloviev explains the failure of Putin’s policy of appeasement:

If you were the president of France or the prime minister of the UK, would you permit criminally insane Washington to drag you into a military conflict with Russia? https://www.infowars.com/get-ready-russia-trump-takes-to-twitter-to-threaten-strike-on-syria/

I didn’t think so. I wouldn’t either. So what’s with Macron and May? What’s with the French and British governments? What’s with the French and British media? I read recently that former UK Labour prime minister Tony Blair is now worth $100 million, his payoff for lying to the UK government and people in order to support the George W. Bush regime’s invasion of Iraq. Have Macron and May been promised the same?

TONY BLAIR —Revolting times we live in, when this disgusting international war criminal is still at large in broad daylight and advising the equally corrupt Theresa May to go to war.

It makes no sense for the UK and French governments to make themselves targets of a military power against which they have no possibility of defense. It makes no sense that their peoples and media sit silently while one French president and one British prime minister endanger not only France and the UK but the entirety of Europe. What’s with the European Union? There is only silence as Europe, and the world with it, are taken to the brink of annihilation. This makes no sense. https://www.globalresearch.ca/taking-the-world-to-the-brink-of-annihilation/5635456

People in Ghouta, doctors in Ghouta, and Russian experts who have arrived on the scene report that there is no sign of any chemical attack. Not only did Syria not use chemical weapons against the civilians that it liberated, there was no chemical attack, not even a false flag one staged by the US supported mercenaries who have been driven out of Ghouta by the Syrian Army. In other words, the chemical attack is entirely a hoax.

To keep the hoax from being confirmed by independent investigation, Washington vetoed a UN Security Council resolution to send in neutral experts to evaluate the claim of chemical attack. Why would Washington prevent an investigation that would prove Washington’s allegation? Clearly, Washington would only prevent an investigation that would disprove the false allegation. There is no doubt whatsoever that Washington’s allegation is false and is being used as an excuse to force Russia to fight or to accept Washington’s hegemony in the Middle East.

What if there was a chemical attack? Why does it matter to people who are killed whether it was by bullets, bombs, missiles, or chemicals? Why is it so bad to use chemicals instead of Hellfire missiles? Why is it OK for Washington and Israel to blow up schools, hospitals, weddings, funerals, market places, and homes full of women and children with missiles, but not OK to kill people with chemicals? Why is it worth starting World War 3 over a hoax chemical weapons attack or a real one?

Americans, for the most part a clueless people, have no awareness of the risk that the criminally insane government in Washington is taking with their lives. What if the Russians mean what they say and do not again turn the other cheek and back down? What happens if Russia replies to force with force?

Why is it that only a few Internet sites are asking this question?

ADDENDUM

This is To Be or Not To Be Defining Moment much more for Putin and Russia, than for Syria and Assad.

Vladimir Soloviev, the host of a primetime political TV show and knows Putin personally tweets: “The situation now is quite comparable to the Cuban Missile Crisis. A nuclear war could erupt in the blink of an eye. And it’s unlikely that mankind will be able to survive it.”

New anti-Russian sanctions, Russian financial markets in meltdown, a tumbling ruble, Western threats to bomb Syrian forces and its backers in Syria, the Skripal false flag – what’s happening?

Welcome to the fourth presidential mandate, mister Putin! All these actions are part of the carefully planned campaign that serves as the welcoming package for most likely the last presidential mandate of the Russian president.

The West is basically sending a clear message to the Russian president. You will have six years of constant crises and hell. We will make sure you don’t have one peaceful day. And sorry, there is no way you will have time to focus on Russia’s inner problems and domestic issues as promised during your presidential campaign.

It will also be tough times for the Russian economy. However, Russians should realize that having 20K rubles (300 dollars) salary is better than having 20 million dead people like in WW2. This is a small price to pay for being one of the last sovereign nations left in the world. In the long term, it is better to cut Russian dependency on Western technology, imports and markets.

Russia needs to take several resolute steps that will inflict significant costs on Washington and its Western vassals:

  • ECONOMIC MEASURES: Ban all major American companies in Russia, that can be easily substituted with Russian equivalents.
    • All McDonalds, Burger Kings, Pizza Huts, and Starbucks should be banned. These measures will not hurt the Russian economy that much as Russia already has its own fast food franchises.
    • Ban American software companies in Russia. There are bunch of Russian software companies that can replace American products.
    • Block Google, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Russia already has strong equivalents that suppress Western competition and are dominant on the Russian market –  Yandex, Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki etc. Basically, Russia should create an independent information space the same way China did.
    • Russia is a major global supplier of titanium, used in aerospace, should restrict those sales to U.S. companies including Boeing.
    • Russia should also stop buying Boeing airplanes or any other American manufacturing technology and stop selling Russian rocket engines to NASA.
  • FINANCIAL MEASURES: Start DUMPING dollars and all international trade with dollars.  Request for international trading partners to facilitate trade in any currency except the  American dollar.
  • POLITICAL AND MILITARY MEASURES:

Most critically, Russia should start waging proxy wars against America, the same way the U.S. is waging a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine by supporting the anti-Russia regime in Kiev and arming fascist militias in Donbas that are killing the ethnic Russian population. Russia should seriously consider arming the Taliban in Afghanistan, Hezbollah in Lebanon, help Iran to modernize its military, sell them S-400s and facilitate joint military technology projects. Basically, Russia should prop us all nations and organizations considered by the Americans as their enemies. This will really hurt Washington. This is the only appropriate and proper reaction to Washington’s foreign policy. The enemy of my enemy is my friend – Russia should embrace the basics of a realistic foreign policy. The US neocons only understand the language of force, it’s not a time for good arguments, dialogue or discussion.

Russian FM Lavrov just stated that negotiations on Korean peninsula situation should result in the nuclear disarmament of the region. Why is Russia so eager to denuclearize Korean peninsula? It is not of vital interest to Russia. Maybe Russia should make North Korea an ally and start arming North Korea even further. Why help out America with neutralizing the Korean threat? Maybe they should help North Korea develop an even more deadly missile. This way neocons will think twice before lashing out at Russia.

  • RECONSIDER RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL: Russia must reconsider its current relationship with Israel because it is wrong for so many reasons, not least because it sends mixed messages to Russian allies in the Middle East.

First steps are already taken; Israel’s ambassador has been summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. But they should be doing much more than this. The whole current crises is a consequence of Israel’s desire to prop up controlled chaos in Syria for decades to come and Russia being silent when it comes to Tel Aviv’s constant air attacks against Syria.

Why is Russia keeping silent when Israel bombs Syria, but threatens the US when it says it wants to do the same? Where’s the logic? Why can Israel do it and the US, as a world’s first superpower, cannot? If Russia is not ready to retaliate against Israel, why do they claim that they are ready to retaliate against the US? It makes no sense. Therefore, Russian should not give Israel a free pass and should impose a similar set of economic and political sanctions as in the case of the U.S.In any case, Russia should make clear to Israel that in case of Russian-American global war, Israel will be one of the first to be wiped out with the help of the Russian nukes. This will make them think twice before instigating a global conflict against Russia.

CONCLUSION

To conclude, instead of whining and crying about illegal, illegitimate Western actions that are not in accordance with international law, Russia and Putin should take serious and concrete steps to stop them.

It is time for old echelon of Russia’s leading politicians to retire. Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Lavrov already hinted that he wants to retire after decades of tireless and, in certain moments, brilliant service to Russia. I think Putin should let him retire and find a new, young, energetic, nationalistic FM who will first of all stop calling Western countries partners as Lavrov does on every occasion. A bully only understands a bully language and actions.

Dmitry Medvedev, current Russian Prime Minister, has been invisible for years, basically a dead man walking. The man who will go down the history as a person who allowed the West to bomb Gadhafi by not vetoing a UN resolution call for a no fly zone over Libya. Other Russian liberals should be gone also and economic and financial policy should be more nationalistic and protectionist.President Putin is currently being too soft on too many issues. He still talks about “western partners”. Even former Israeli intel boss Yakov Kedmi thinks he should be tougher to the neocon bullies. Russia needs someone with a bit of Zhirinovsky’s manners in Russian foreign policy, especially at this very moment.

Thus, in this critical moment for the mankind, having in mind that all Western MSM are completely ignoring the danger of having WW3, Putin should go on live TV, make a breaking statement and explain to Russian citizens, and most importantly to the world, that the whole planet is on the brink of World War Three.

And finally, Russia needs to understand that this has nothing to do with Assad, Syria or even the Middle East. It has everything to do with Russia. Israel and the U.S. decided it is perfect time to inflict a humiliating defeat on Russia in Syria and take them out of this complex equation.

If Russia does nothing and hides under the table while whining and protesting against illegal American, British, French and Israelis strikes against Syrian people, it will be the ultimate defeat and humiliation for Russia and Putin. No one will want to be a Russian ally anymore, even though lots of countries are not in line to become one, to be honest.  This will be geopolitical defeat of gigantic intensity and in that case it is better that the Russians leave Syria than further humiliate themselves.

Backing down just avoids the inevitable – eventually world peace will depend on nations challenging U.S. global hegemony. Russia, foremost, stands up to the US/Israel in Syria towards the beginning of the piece.President Putin, it is your call. Either you will go into history as the greatest Russian statesmen who ever lived under the sun or as Ivan the Terrible 2.0 whose prosperous first stage of the rule ended up in ultimate chaos, disintegration and “troubled times” in Russia.

Godspeed to you, Vladimir Vladimirovich! The destiny of Russia and the mankind is in your hands.

Parting shot—a word from the editors

The Best Definition of Donald Trump We Have Found

In his zeal to prove to his antagonists in the War Party that he is as bloodthirsty as their champion, Hillary Clinton, and more manly than Barack Obama, Trump seems to have gone “play-crazy” — acting like an unpredictable maniac in order to terrorize the Russians into forcing some kind of dramatic concessions from their Syrian allies, or risk Armageddon. However, the “play-crazy” gambit can only work when the leader is, in real life, a disciplined and intelligent actor, who knows precisely what actual boundaries must not be crossed. That ain’t Donald Trump — a pitifully shallow and ill-disciplined man, emotionally handicapped by obscene privilege and cognitively crippled by white American chauvinism. By pushing Trump into a corner and demanding that he display his most bellicose self, or be ceaselessly mocked as a “puppet” and minion of Russia, a lesser power, the War Party and its media and clandestine services have created a perfect storm of mayhem that may consume us all. 1. As for the war threats, they are the ‘new’ diplomacy, which in contrast to the neo-liberal foreign policies of Obama, is direct in its goals by not hiding its methods, thus following a purely Republican policy approach. It is the reason why without a dissembling Democratic regime, one has the openly brutal one of a Republican one. That makes the threats even more impressive without there being a basis for attack. The hollowness of Republican arguments is often followed by no or feeble action. One can safely assume that behind the scenes there is little chance for confrontation between the major powers in the world as they try to balance each other’s aggressions. The US is as it has always been an unpredictable and unbalanced partner in the dance of death, making it hard on Russia for example to evade and ameliorate their responses. The conflicts are always played out in proxy wars condemning poorer and less powerful countries to horrid circumstances.

    1. GOOD INSIGHTS ON THIS, AS USUAL, BUT ALSO A LIBERALOID RELAPSE: THE HABIT OF CASTING ASPERSION ON THE SUPPOSEDLY EQUALLY EVIL POWERS. We reject that Manichean way of thinking, which only allows the criminals in Washington to continue with their self-righteous campaigns to rape and destroy nations at will. Russia, and the Soviet Union, were naturally not perfect, no great power ever is, and yet their record of foreign policy was at least rational in all cases, and not outright immoral. Equating them is a disservice to truth. Oh, and the Russkies always kept their diplomatic promises, something the Americans rarely did, and in this age, never do. Yet in American media and “conventional wisdom” it is the Russkies who are constantly accused of being treacherous and dishonorable.

      1. Quote: “as they try to balance each other’s aggressions”. Ah yes, one may call this remark ‘liberaloid’ but in fact Russia is not without its own problems. Vide a good article by Fisk today on Counterpunch which suggests that the chemical attack in Syria if it indeed took place could be a last attempt to destroy all remaining resistance in Douma. In this world nothing is totally black or white nor is any communication from the media ever a reliable truth. Moreover, there is always Groszny to remind one of total destruction. Great nations and one can name Russia that, are able to do great harm and to assume their innocence and purity is shallow and immature at best. To compare great nations in villainy makes little sense and as the marvelous French movie title from the 1950’s says “Nous sommes tous des assassins”. National interests so-called are the true argument for a borderless globe, where humans can accept and live in peace with their counterparts, a concept which is not at all unthinkable. The delineation of Russia’s military might is also a kind of electronic war games tactic as it suggests mutual destruction of the world powers. Where is a Gandhi when one needs him now more than ever?

  2. PS

Neither let us go into hero worship. Putin is a very clever statesman (after all Russians are past masters at chess) but not as Arundhati Roy once stated that he is a great humanitarian. Just so with an appraisal of China’s Xi. Russia’s interest in Syria is because they have their one military base in Syria bordering on the Mediterranean Sea. That the USA and NATO encroach onto Russian territory is the usual Western aggression whether it comes from the USA, Britain, France or for that matter once Germany. As the counterpoint to the capitalist structure of those countries, Russia is a constant populist threat as is in fact China. But the capitalist motor is weakening because the world economy is no longer based solely in the West, even though it is a pure necessity for other nations to somehow keep cooperating with the West. Nobody is stupid and though di su in sotto it is intellectually fashionable to decry the smarts of the US population, this is factually proven wrong by the constant large popular demonstrations. They may not yet follow strict socialist rules or programs, but they also do not need lecturing about their lack of insight. They are a preliminary to real revolt as much as the feeble trusting Winter palace demonstration in 1905. That Western foreign politics are in a chaos is nothing new vide pre-1914 circumstances. That therefore they are very dangerous is without dispute. Let us hope that negotiations will be able to stave off more proxy wars. The present sable rattling is obscene (i.e. show for an audience) intimidation, not preliminary to nuclear action. The internal chaos about the Trump regime and the internecine warfare between the several power factions break open the obfuscation about the societal system. It is the only hope for rational change and one should support despite a difference of opinion the US demonstrations.
