Insane Anti-Trumpists Call For Even More Escalations Against A Nuclear Superpower

CAITLIN JOHNSTONE—In response to this underwhelming revelation, Democrats and Never-Trumpers are howling for new cold war escalations with Russia. This despite the fact that this administration has already killed Russians in Syria, greatly escalated nuclear tensions with Russia, allowed the sale of arms to Ukraine (a move Obama refused for fear of angering Moscow), establishing a permanent military presence in Syria with the goal of effecting regime change, forced RT and Sputnik to register as foreign agents, expanded NATO with the addition of Montenegro, assigned Russia hawk Kurt Volker as special representative to Ukraine, shut down a Russian consulate in San Francisco and thrown out Russian diplomats as part of continued back-and-forth hostile diplomatic exchanges.

The FBI and the President – Mutual Manipulation

JAMES PETRAS—The liberal-progressive FBI cohort turned into rabid Russia-bashers demanding that Trump take a highly aggressive stance against Moscow, while systematically eliminating his military and security advisors who expressed anti-confrontation sentiments. In the spirit of a Joe McCarthy, the liberal-left launched hysterical attacks on any and every Trump campaign adviser who had spoken to, dined with or exchanged eyebrows with any and all Russians!

Russia Insider editor disgusted (but not surprised) by NYTimes Editorial Still Beating the Drum for RussiaGate

CHARLIE BAUSMAN—I am continually amazed at the schizophrenia in America regarding so many things, but especially Russia and RussiaGate. It is very helpful to sometimes wonder over to the other camp and listen in. It is perfect on its own, like a cockroach is perfect.

OF NOTE: US Media Turn to ‘Superhero’ Pence to Combat Korean Olympic Peace Threat

ADAM JOHNSON—Nearly every one of Pence’s actions during his five-day trip to Japan and South Korea this week—his public declarations, private murmurings and scripted meetings and visits—have been aimed at combating North Korea’s shiny propaganda with gritty talk of his own. It’s hard to think of a better illustration of the concept of cognitive dissonance than the Washington Post unironically referring to Mike Pence as a “superhero” in an article about the dangers of propaganda.

The Intercept Is Transitioning From Guard Dog To Attack Dog For The Establishment

CAITLIN JOHNSTONE—Back in September The Intercept ran an article trying to conflate opposition to Syrian interventionism with white nationalism, and I said back then things were getting increasingly shady with this particularly outlet. The repeated WikiLeaks smears, which have no place outside mainstream media, mean that people like me are going to be distancing ourselves from that publication and ceasing to look at it as a reliable outlet.

Ramo Reminded South Koreans of the Brutality of Imperial Japan

JOSEPH ESSERTIER—Ramo has certainly reminded millions of Koreans of the incredible pain and trauma of the violence of the Empire of Japan. Bravo! His words have reminded Koreans of American racism and cold indifference toward them, too. As Koreans on the Peninsula move forward toward peace, his words make it difficult for Koreans to forget the heartless lack of sympathy and concern among Americans for their human rights, and his words will encourage them to not rely on Washington any more than they rely on Tokyo.
