BARBARA MACLEAN—It used to be that delivery drivers used their own intelligence and knowledge of traffic patterns to determine their routes. Today Amazon delivery center determines the routes and orders the drivers to drive them within time frames which allows no time for a full lunch break, morning and afternoon breaks. No bathrooms are provided by Amazon while these drivers are on the road. Their wages are low, they have no health benefits and are often accused of stealing when driving in rich white neighborhoods. All the more reason for Amazon workers to be unionized!

Gee, I thought the Americans would finally realize that their little frolic in Syria was a miserable failure. Even Britain, the world’s most renowned politically scoundrel-laden nation, should have noted by now that its own policies in Syria came a cropper. Non-Europeans are familiar with the Catalan bid for autonomy from Madrid; readers will also recall the bloody fight of the Basques for the same, the same battle which over a half century ago shook Belgium as Flemish people fought for independence from Francophone Belgium. The Lega Nord was founded on a similar political demand: secession from Italy and Rome.
