Most “tea party” protesters endorse politics and positions indistinguishable from the GOP’s rank-and-file. In fact they are normally to the right, more reactionary than the party’s leadership cliques. Is this a phenomenon that will transform American politics or are “tea baggers” merely GOP stooges soon to be retired as their usefulness diminishes?
