I’m so sorry to hear this news. I’ve heard much about him from Patrice and know he was a driving force for progressive causes. His books, essays, and articles will continue to educate people as to what is really going on in this country. Condolences to his family and colleagues.
Irreparable loss. A singularly powerful writer with a brilliant intellect and a heart to match.
Joe was a loyal and wonderful friend. When he stayed with me he told great stories about ant heaps and how they behaved like human tribes. Joe was one of the brightest men I have ever met, a true gem of a man, often tortured by his sensitivity…
I was very sorry to hear about Joe. I didn’t get a chance to know him in person, of course, as I was mainly in Europe and he was mostly in Central America and Mexico during the last few years, but I always read his posts and materials and admired him greatly. Considering his vision and originality, he is a great loss to society in general and in particular to our editorial group.
