THE MSNBC CORRAL & THE KILLING OF OSAMA BIN LADEN

THE OBSESSIVELY REPORTED attack on Osama’s compound has unleashed a torrent of systemic apologetics and red-white-and-blue jingoism throughout the media and political commentariat. At MSNBC, long viewed as a bastion of liberal opinion, the inmates have been busy milking the event for its maximum ideological value, and the channel has been positively bristling with chauvinist nonsense and sycophancy, with its stable of celebrity hosts practically in a hot scramble to sing the loudest praise to Obama and the Democrats. One of the most irritating—but to be expected—feature of liberal commentary is that these people no sooner finish a good argument castigating their opponents than they say something that almost completely erases the good they have accumulated. With one hand they giveth, and with the other they taketh away. In sum, it’s a confusing yo-yo of both attacking some awful symptom of the system while propping up the selfsame system in the next breath. Below, we analyze another example of this persistent Beltway fever. —P. Greanville

MSNBC’s The Last Word: Obama Visits Ground Zero
In his calm, measured delivery, O’Donnell is a master of the indirect propaganda boost, and an always dependable Democratic media asset. In this particular segment, mining the still bountiful 9/11 lode, the actual message that sediments at the end of the show is one of certifying once more
(a) the rightness of fighting on against “terror”,
(b) the decency of our leaders and fighters (i.e., Obama, the Joint Chiefs, our troops), and
(c) the “undeniability” of our wounds, which must NEVER be forgotten.
To keep the injury fresh on our minds, nothing beats the trotting out of 9/11 victims family members, as these people will always offer a genuine, heartfelt testimony. What else could they do? Thereby, via such well-meaning and ostensible harmless actions the notion that war without end is the proper response is further reaffirmed. The beauty of all this is that the best propaganda is that dished out by people who already swallowed the line completely. Unfortunately, while engaged in following the official line so closely, O’Donnell, obviously a bright and decent man, is not likely to countenance the notion that 9/11 could have been a false flag operation, or that, even if it had not been, it has been cynically exploited by the American establishment for criminal purposes wholly unconnected to it. —P. See..what’s happening to so called liberal Dems..they have lost the battle or given up to the Thugs, cowards, cheats, sneak and murderers on the far right, at least attitudinally..what’s the old saying..”if ya can’t beat em, join em”..liberals didn’t stand the moral high ground on the issue, and now they default downward to the sewers of the issue..its,why I am no longer a Dem..can’t do that..
DEMOCRACY TAKES ETERNAL VIGILANCE..another words it must guarded, cultivated, and steadily evolve..that does not describe the “American culture” by a long shot, if anything, it tends toward the opposite..”comfort driven”, apathetic, egotistical, delusional at times, very fertile ground for con artistry to thrive in..the concept of insurance is a good thing, but the industry itself is not..its a behemoth size farce, and, like the oil and war industry, to name a couple, is bleeding us dry..
