Reverend Hyeon Soo Lim, a Canadian pastor, under arrest in the DPRK (North Korea) has publicly admitted to being part of an imperialist plot to topple the government of the DPRK. The North Korean constitution defends the right of people to be religious and one of the ruling parties in North Korea is a religious party. This is not a religious issue, but it does appear that religion is being used against the DPRK.
Similarly, the imperialists used the Catholic Church to topple the Polish government and its socialist system in the 1980s. That counterrevolution in Poland brought unemployment from zero to 50%, outlawed abortion, and outlawed the advocacy of socialism. Similarly, people are jailed in South Korea for things like defending North Korea or reading Lenin. An important leftist party that was getting 10% of the vote has recently been banned in South Korea.
The gains of the North Korean socialist revolution include zero unemployment, free housing for all, guaranteed free health care for all, socialist food distribution, and free education through the university levels. Before the communist revolution in North Korea, there were zero universities in the north of Korea. Since liberation from the imperialists, 300 universities have been established.
Washington’s handpicked puppet, Syngman Rhee, embraces his lord protector, Douglas MacArthur, Supreme Commander for Allied Powers. MacArthur was a hardcore warmongering reactionary who went so far he had to be restrained by Truman.
The United States murdered five million Koreans in the 1950s in its attempts to spread the capitalist dictatorship of Syngman Rhee throughout Korea. Leading up to the Korean War, Syngman Rhee rounded up 200,000 leftists and suspected leftists and had them shot. Korea has never been two countries, and as a result of the horrible oppression and mass murder of their comrades in the U.S. imperialist occupied south, North Korea invaded to liberate the south in the 1950s. This was a just war by the Korean people to drive out the imperialists and their puppet Syngman Rhee. Leninists supported this attempt to liberate Korea from the imperialists. Likewise, we support the right of the DPRK to prosecute and jail those carrying out counterrevolutionary imperialist plots in the DPRK.
