American NGOs from relief to human rights organizations—have long been used by the US government as adjuncts to its subterranean arsenal of interventionist tools, in many cases to inject “soft power” and information aggression into a volatile mix, in others as reinforcements for coups already carried out or in process. The latest and most notorious example is the Ukraine, of course, although color revolutions, the “larger package” wherein these assets are put into play, have afflicted a number of countries. Because of this, many of these orgs are now deservedly perceived around the world as fifth columns ready to do Washington’s bidding, at the expense of the targeted nation’s peoples and sovereignty.
