Current trends in world politics, the strengthening role and authority of Russia in the world make Western media continue their media warfare against Russia and its President Putin, the head of the Institute of Socio-Economic and Political Studies, Dmitry Badovsky said.
“Another round of “information” attacks on Russia and President Putin is undoubtedly related to the current trends in world politics – Russia’s stronger positions and authority in the world after the military and political success of the Syrian campaign and the noticeable growth of Putin’s personal popularity in Europe and other parts of the world,” Dmitry Badovsky said.
According to him, “the premeditated political propaganda of publications in Western media is clearly visible.”
“If we look at ongoing investigations and inquiries into the office of the Russian president, we will see that it is the International Consortium of Investigative Journalism (ICIJ) that prepares them.
“This is an international non-profit organization that unites journalists specializing in investigations. However, it is very important to know that this international investigative consortium is a project of the US Center for Public Integrity,” (sic) the expert said.
The list of key donors of the center includes, for example, such well-known organizations as the MacArthur Foundation and the Soros Foundation, as well as a number of other similar parapolitical US funds.
“Their role and nature of interest in Russia does not raise any illusions with anyone,” the analyst said. The Soros Foundation, for example, is included on the list of foreign and international non-governmental organizations whose activities are recognized as undesirable on the territory of Russia. “The MacArthur Foundation closed its branch in Russia in July 2015, without waiting for this decision to come from Russia,” Dmitry Badovsky told Pravda.Ru.
Putin’s press-secretary Dmitry Peskov stated on March 28 that a number of Western publications were preparing a series of publications in an attempt to tarnish Putin’s reputation. Peskov warned that it would be nothing but paid journalism.
“Peskov’s statement on the matter was not just a figure of speech, but an objective statement to expose the deliberate bias of upcoming [barrage] of anti-Russian publications in Western media.”
Dmitry Peskov, Putin’s official spokesman, told reporters that a number of Western media were preparing a blatant information attack on President Putin and his team.
According to Peskov, anti-Putin articles are to be published in the next few days in Germany, the USA, the UK, France, Switzerland and Russia. The articles will be dedicated to Putin himself, members of his family, friends of his youth, entrepreneurs, offshore companies and many other people that “Putin has never seen,” Peskov said.
Earlier, in an interview with Pravda.Ru, Deputy Secretary of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Sergei Ordzhonikidze, called the appearance of such articles in the media a manifestation of weakness towards the strong leadership of the country. “When there are no specific allegations, they use are all sorts of unsubstantiated speculation,” he added.
