CBS and the rest of the Western media continue to lie about Syria

BY TOM COURTLY
A mendacity so deep

Judging by the behaviour of the corporate media, always a good mirror of what the Deep State is up to, the scoundrels who run America are far from giving up on their plans for more war in the Middle East and elsewhere. So the filth and the fog keep pouring out of their so-called “news channels”. Here’s an example of refined insidiousness, the way only sanctimonious US propaganda can deliver it. The on-camera carrier of the disinformation is Holly Williams, who used to be an honest reporter. What happened to you Holly? Is the money really worth it?

In the report below, really an example of typical American disinformation promoting war under false pretexts, Holly Williams demonises not only Russia, but tries to, indirectly, make it hard for Donald Trump to work with Putin to finish off Daesh and shut down the war in Syria. Whilst this is not a strong possibility, given Trump’s character and current possible appointments to critical posts in the foreign policy apparatus, avoidance of a nuclear clash between the superpowers should be a top priority for any sane statesman, citizen, or journalist. From that indisputable perspective it does not help the cause of world peace to have the “Free Press” and its minions label Pres. Putin (along with Pres. Assad), as sociopathic war criminals. Naturally, neither CBS producers nor Williams is about to tell us that this entire mess, this horrendous war and the ISIS nightmare, was created by Washington, for completely ignoble purposes, in full complicity with its despotic and barbaric Gulf allies and Israel, and with the full criminal backing of Turkey and the NATO vassal states. This is precisely the Washington establishment that backed Hillary in this election. The same establishment that denied Sanders a shot, and which high-handedly, again, via its dominion of the mainstream press and longstanding crooked rules, blocked Jill Stein and Ajamu Baraka, the Green Party ticket, from confronting the duopoly’s horrendous “choices”. Context. Ignored. Mangled. Denied. That, I should think, is a rather important part of the story.— TC

Can Trump follow through on ISIS promises?

CBS Evening News | Published on Nov 16, 2016

President-elect Trump had plenty to say about the war on ISIS during the campaign, suggesting “bombing the hell out of” the terror group. But as Holly Williams reports, conditions on the ground in Iraq and Syria complicate the decisions he will have to make.

Obama tries to reassure Europe on final international trip (Nov. 15, 2016)

Reassure my arse. What the media are doing is simply keep burnishing the old pillars of US propaganda:

• That the “free world” is (breathlessly) clamoring for the leadership of the “indispensable” nation;
• That NATO must be maintained, perhaps even expanded further, to ring Russia, China, and any target designated for containment or elimination by Washington’s ruling elites;
• That if we don’t keep expanding our military muscle everywhere, the Big Bad Russian Bear will come down from the steppes and eat us all. Bulldoze Western Europe. The poor things. At least three in the EU have nuclear weapons themselves, not to mention the permanent interloper, Israel, and we know in which direction her nukes are going to fly. In other words this propaganda, now that the system feels momentarily a bit unsure as to Trump’s moves in this policy sphere, is aimed at keeping the Neocon agenda alive and well on its assigned course, even without the great assist of a Neocon warmonger like Hillary Clinton and her gang.

The American media are professionally produced and managed instruments of thought control for the benefit of the 0.000001%. Don’t ever forget that central reality. Approach with extreme caution and question everything they say, and then question some more. Then—to run no risk of deception infesting your mind— cancel them entirely as sources of information about serious matters and use social media for that purpose. Independent citizens’ journalism that you find in sites like this one.

Social media are not perfect, and whack jobs and their garbage are there, too, not to mention the plutocracy’s own disinformers, mirroring their mainstream assets, but, even with such inevitable drawbacks, Internet-borne information is still a damn sight better, more genuinely diversified, far more trustworthy and likely to offer anyone the truth than the utterly corrupt corporate media, whose only role is to lie and distract from the injustices and criminality of the status quo.—PG

CODA—
CBS—and the rest of the lying pack throughout the Western media—have been agitating for war for quite sometime.

Just a year ago, they were using the same lies to demonize Russia’s actions, real and imagined, especially the imagined ones, like “Russian aggression.” Come to think, whenever you hear the word “aggression” on the lips of a US journalist, beware!  This is an old meme used by the Deep State’s minions to tar the image of those marked as enemies of the empire, enemies of capitalist domination. For many long and devious decades, it was “Communist aggression” here, there and everywhere. Now it’s the enemies du jour that bear the brunt of the demonization.
