The Best Definition of Donald Trump We Have Found
In his zeal to prove to his antagonists in the War Party that he is as bloodthirsty as their champion, Hillary Clinton, and more manly than Barack Obama, Trump seems to have gone “play-crazy” -- acting like an unpredictable maniac in order to terrorize the Russians into forcing some kind of dramatic concessions from their Syrian allies, or risk Armageddon. However, the “play-crazy” gambit can only work when the leader is, in real life, a disciplined and intelligent actor, who knows precisely what actual boundaries must not be crossed. That ain’t Donald Trump -- a pitifully shallow and ill-disciplined man, emotionally handicapped by obscene privilege and cognitively crippled by white American chauvinism. By pushing Trump into a corner and demanding that he display his most bellicose self, or be ceaselessly mocked as a “puppet” and minion of Russia, a lesser power, the War Party and its media and clandestine services have created a perfect storm of mayhem that may consume us all.— Glen Ford, Editor in Chief, Black Agenda Report

It’s obvious why Counterpunch stopped publishing Andre since he is writing about the real world, while they are publishing article pushing the CIA party line – “Assad gassed his own people” nonsense – all while posing as a “progressive” website. Thank you for your reporting Andre. It is a much needed antidote to the “establishment left” in the U.S. who somehow always find a way to support the latest imperialist war – while loudly claiming to oppose imperialism.
when push comes to shove what remains of the “western left” will always turn up more “western” than “left”.
Another scenario could be considered, namely that this rather feeble attack was planned by the Trump administration. After all they were warned by Russia not to destroy Syria further and indeed the Russian reaction to this in fact almost minor event was almost non-existent except for some terse remarks by the Russian foreign secretary Lavrov. Much of the Trump foreign policies are blunderbusses of tough talk without consequences (the truly awful misdeeds are never published or only admitted as a follow-up to clear the criticism). One can never take anything anymore at face value and it would be far more cautious to take all reporting with a boulder of rough salt. Vltchek undoubtedly saw and experienced the relief of the Syrian public at the lack of serious destruction without any human losses, but this does not mean that they valiantly fought back as there was very little to fight back against this time. All the fake propaganda about chemical attacks and such are but shadow fighting to save face for Trump.
