The Best Definition of Donald Trump We Have Found

In his zeal to prove to his antagonists in the War Party that he is as bloodthirsty as their champion, Hillary Clinton, and more manly than Barack Obama, Trump seems to have gone “play-crazy” — acting like an unpredictable maniac in order to terrorize the Russians into forcing some kind of dramatic concessions from their Syrian allies, or risk Armageddon. However, the “play-crazy” gambit can only work when the leader is, in real life, a disciplined and intelligent actor, who knows precisely what actual boundaries must not be crossed. That ain’t Donald Trump — a pitifully shallow and ill-disciplined man, emotionally handicapped by obscene privilege and cognitively crippled by white American chauvinism. By pushing Trump into a corner and demanding that he display his most bellicose self, or be ceaselessly mocked as a “puppet” and minion of Russia, a lesser power, the War Party and its media and clandestine services have created a perfect storm of mayhem that may consume us all. 1. A most interesting viewpoint by Hedges and undeniably true. The illness of Western culture has taken its highest toll in the US and reduced a resistance against the madhouse into make-believe Potemkin appearances. Parenti writing about the late Roman republic and Caesar reflects a multitude of similar defaults in our present-day society. This Sunday morning while listening to the very third-rate talking heads on channel television news one realizes how utterly harmless they are to Trump, the essential unmoved New York businessman who gathers strength from controversy and animosity. The perception that change is still possible has become ephemeral to the extent that the public at large does not even very much believe anymore in a solution to the many corruptive holes in the structure of this capitalist system. To raise the consciousness of such a deflated public is well-nigh impossible and the only pattern one sees emerging is a virulent lateral-directed violence. The nation state is devouring itself in order to keep the status-quo intact and it uses a diminishing reactionary effort because it becomes more and more difficult to extract surplus value from labor and keeping the victims under control. The basis of the commonwealth is being hollowed out quickly and what is left is but a bad oppressive dream. Since power is heavily slanted towards the social layers protected by military and police, it is without doubt built on nothing and it takes only a short time for the masses to realize this and to overthrow all authority and regulation. We are fast approaching a reactionary anarchy with unknown consequences.
