Like a giant and lethal parasite, the US MIC (miltary-industrial-complex), which also includes its powerful propaganda arm, the mainstream media, currently more than half of our published budget. To justify itself, and serve the agendas of the ruling caste of billionaires that really own America and its politicians, it manufactures threats and wars all over the planet. And this is not a secret: Many Americans are quite aware of this, but feel helpless to do anything about it. Call it the capitalist/imperialist disease: the ultimate form of cancer. 

The complex web of military bureacracies (besides the equally vast and complex ecology of weapons manufacturers and contractors): it's a truly metastasizing monster.
