EDITED AND HOSTED BY THE GREANVILLE POST
In his maturity as an activist, Kevin embraced many vital causes, from decriminalizing Marijuana to Occupy Wall Street, and the perennial effort to build a genuine alternative third party, but two great and noble issues consumed much of his energies: the struggle for universal heath care in America, along with his longtime partner Margaret Flowers, and the defense of dignity and sovereignty of heroic nations like Venezuela, Cuba and Bolivia, again in the crosshairs of US imperialism. His courageous acts to protect and safeguard the Venezuelan people's home in Washington DC, and to counter Washington's assaults on the Bolivarian nation earned him a special place in the hearts of many Venezuelans. Today, these tasks remain incomplete, but I am certain he never doubted that victory would come some day. In that unshakable belief, which inspired so many around him, he would have taken comfort in the words of Pres. Allende in his last message to the people of Chile. Allende, like Kevin, had faith in the people's destiny. Setbacks, bitter and long though they may seem, are ultimately only momentary. "Go forward," said Allende, "knowing that sooner rather than later, the great avenues of light will open again where free men will walk to build a better society." Kevin would have surely agreed.
So yes, la lucha continua. Hasta la victoria siempre, compañero.

Kevin fought to bring truth every day. We must not lose this struggle.
Kevin was going to write a newsletter this weekend about the extradition trial of Julian Assange, which begins today. Kevin understood the great importance of the prosecution of Julian Assange as a battle that will define journalism in the 21st century and our right to know.
Heartbreaking! Our dear @KBZeese Kevin Zeese passed away suddenly this morning. Kevin was a brilliant writer, organizer, strategist and visionary. Wherever there was injustice, Kevin was there, with his partner Margaret @MFlowers8 and @PopResistance. We miss you, brother. pic.twitter.com/q87cGWHaS5

We deeply regret the unexpected departure of our brother Kevin Zeese, courageous Peace and Human Rights activist. One of the US heroes that defended our Embassy until the end. Our condolences to his partner Margaret and all of his family. pic.twitter.com/fLoqFhskPp

He was helping to organize an online event featuring Daniel Ellsberg, James Goodale, and Chris Hedges, moderated by Sue Udry. That event will still take place. You can register for it here. The Facebook page for it is here.
You can read the June 28th newsletter we wrote about Julian Assange, “Government Attacks Media as Peoples Media Reveals the Truth.”
Please follow the trial, spread the word about it and do what you can to support Assange. I know that Consortium News will be following it closely. His partner and the mother of his two sons launched a crowdfunding campaign for legal support.
Kevin fought to bring truth every day. We must not lose this struggle.
I will do my best to keep Popular Resistance going and strive to maintain the high quality that Kevin brought to it. See above for the details of the online tribute his sons and I are planning. We are working on a fund to honor him and keep his legacy growing, as he deserves.
Rest in power, Kevin Zeese.
