A fascinating chat with the formidable Whitney Webb, one of the true anti-imperialist journalists around, and surely one of the bravest. The topics covered are likely to make your head spin. Which is logical: We live in a world of deliberately built multiple layers of interacting deception. These layers are also constantly shifting.  This program by Convo Couch provides an insight into the complexities confronting ordinary people as they struggle to make sense of contemporary reality, facing this maze of lies and gross omissions of truth (always eliminating the context) with no help from the educational, media or political establishments. As we listen to Whitney's exposition, we may get a glancing explanation about why so many people these days walk around like zombies, unable to grasp essential facts. The current struggle has several causalities: capitalism is reaching a point of complete inability to cope with the consequences of the digital revolution, which should liberate most humans from toil, but which under capitalist contradictions dictate misery and unemployment for the vast majority. And the world is moving away from the oil paradigm to the strategic minerals paradigm, which again relies heavily on extractive industries that are bad for the environment. This epochal shift is already pitting the superpowers—mainly "the West" and the SinoRussian bloc—in a scramble for the control of strategic minerals, like rare earth, which happens to be critical to the computer revolution (batteries, for example), because folks, just about everything is soon to be completely controlled by computers, from your Prius in your garage, to entire "smart cities" and of course advanced weapons. Meanwhile, since in a global capitalist regime largely based on lies the truth is by definition subversive and delegitimising, the empire and its minions are doubling down to suppress it. The advent of the Internet gradually weakened the oligarchs' narrative control, so, in a panic, having made their Faustian pact with the computer devil, the billionaires are forced now to be undeniably heavy-handed in reasserting such control, and the upshot is the thick and fetid mindfog enveloping much of our communicatons in "the West". Our reality today has surpassed Orwell (who incidentally was wrong in thinking this level of duplicity would emanate from Stalinist socialism instead of capitalism). So keep your ears pricked: Terms like stakeholder capitalism", "the Great Reset", the "Green Revolution", should put you on a mentally defensive mode. Accept no explanations from power/privilege-invested sources, and do your own digging, hard as that will be. And beware of false friends: the pseudo left, in particular, the liberal class, the Fifth Columns embedded in our own ranks, the segment of the population peddling fake democracy and fake freedoms and fake solutions, like our friend "hopey-changey". Or asking us again to vote for the Lesser Evil. It's a tall order, near impossible, granted, but you must try. So simplify your method: Start by disconnecting your mind from the corporate media, the chief purveyors of lies and other toxic substances. (And remember that Hollywood is also media, very much an important part of the imperial propaganda brew, and is constantly trying to brainwash you by selling you infantilising fantasies like the (by now) near innumerable animated films with cute critters, or Marvel Comics "heroes", fighting cartoonish enemies with simple fists or superhuman powers, or outright imperialist lies). Tell the criminal twins in the Duopoly to get lost. BOTH of them, Democrats and Republicans. They are NOT our friends. They serve the 0.001%. Ever wonder why doing the obvious good for the people is always a near-impossible thing for the US Congress?  In every important instance, ask yourself, who benefits from this? That's the great Cui Bono question which eventually could explain it all.
