The renowned military analyst, and author of Losing Military Spremacy, has just filed this commentary on developments in Ukraine. (Dateline: Thursday, September 8, 2022)

The National Institute of Mental Health defines schizophrenia as a serious mental illness and lists one of its major symptoms, among delusions and hallucinations, as:
Here is why this thing came to my attention (via Ria.Ru) which reviewed a public opinion poll by ELABE which was reported by the French TV Network BFMTV. In this poll ELABE asked the following questions and received these curious responses:
Les sanctions économiques contre la Russie jugées pas efficaces pour mettre fin à la guerre. Des Français plus partagés sur l’efficacité du soutien militaire et financier à l’Ukraine. 74% des Français considèrent que les sanctions économiques prises par l’Union Européenne et les pays occidentaux contre la Russie ne sont pas efficaces pour mettre fin à la guerre (dont 51% pas vraiment et 23% pas du tout).
Translation: Economic sanctions against Russia [are] deemed not effective in ending the war, and French people more divided on the effectiveness of military and financial support for Ukraine, 74% of French people consider that the economic sanctions taken by the European Union and Western countries against Russia are not effective in ending the war (including 51% not really and 23% not at all).
There is absolutely nothing sensational about it, if not to consider the OTHER question in this poll:
Face à la pression sur le pouvoir d’achat, l’adhésion aux sanctions contre la Russie et au soutien à l’Ukraine faiblit dans l’opinion publique
Concernant le soutien à l’Ukraine et les sanctions contre la Russie: 40% des Français (-6 depuis le 24 mars) des Français estiment que le soutien à l’Ukraine et les sanctions contre la Russie sont la priorité, même si cela a un impact de plus en plus important sur leur quotidien et le pouvoir d’achat des Français; 32% (-2) qu’il faut continuer de soutenir l’Ukraine et sanctionner la Russie, mais si cela a un impact trop important sur leur quotidien et le pouvoir d’achat des Français, il faudra réduire nos sanctions contre la Russie et notre soutien à l’Ukraine; 27% (+8) que le quotidien et le pouvoir d’achat des Français est plus important que le soutien à l’Ukraine et les sanctions contre la Russie, il faut stopper les sanctions pour rétablir la situation économique et commerciale;
Translation: Faced with pressure on purchasing power, support for sanctions against Russia and support for Ukraine is weakening in public opinion. Regarding support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia: 40% of French people (-6 since March 24) believe that support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia are the priority, even if this has an increasingly significant impact on their daily lives and the power of purchase of the French; 32% (-2) that we must continue to support Ukraine and sanction Russia, but if this has too great an impact on their daily lives and the purchasing power of the French, we will have to reduce our sanctions against Russia and our support for Ukraine. And 27% (+8) opine that the daily life and purchasing power of the French is more important than support for Ukraine and the sanctions against Russia; the sanctions must be stopped to restore [normalise] the economic and commercial situation.
In simpler words: sanctions do not work, but 72% of French still support them. See the definition of schizophrenia and thought disorder above. What can I say, the times when rational thought was being birthed in the confines of the once great Sorbonne more than 700 years ago are long gone, and the ability to think straight is not a European value anymore. Schizophrenia descended upon Europe, yet, it MUST be understood that this poll also reveals something which I write about for more than a decade--the deep seated Russophobia of the general European population. This is sometimes significant, and the exceptions merely confirm the rule.
But then again, rationality left what used to be Western Civilization some time ago, and events in Kharkov Oblast today demonstrate it perfectly with a militarily useless PR-driven "offensive" which, as Russia's Permanent Representative to UN Nebenzya stated (in Russian), resulted in fields near Nikolaev, Kharkov and Zaporozhie, "seeded" with thousands of corpses of VSU servicemen, who are not allowed to retreat by "zagrad" detachments. This is the level of military "expertise" in Pentagon and London. Especially since they know they cannot fight such a war. Ah yes, there is another reason for this madness:
Most Americans, Even A Majority Of Democrats, Don’t Want Biden To Run in 2024: Poll
Believe me, it is a huge factor in militarily suicidal decision by Pentagon on this "offensive" in which many thousands of Ukrainians will be killed, and tens of thousands will be wounded. Hey, whatever it takes to save American "democracy", right?
Meanwhile, back to Washington's Ukraine obsession.
This is what Blinken "brought" to Kiev.
The administration of US President Joe Biden has pledged another $2.2 billion in long-term military financing to Ukraine and 18 neighbor states and territories “potentially at risk of future Russian aggression,” (sic) pending approval by Congress, Secretary of State Antony Blinken revealed on Thursday during an unannounced visit to Kiev. Blinken met with President Vladimir Zelensky and other senior officials to discuss the details of the $2.2 billion package, of which $1 billion will go to Ukraine. The rest will be divided among “regional security partners” in order to help them “deter and defend against emergent threats to their sovereignty and territorial integrity” through strengthening their coordination with NATO and combating “Russian influence and aggression,” according to the State Department.
Blinken, being a complete moron militarily, did this:
Blinken hailed the Ukrainian “counteroffensive” against Russian forces in the south as “effective,” calling it a “pivotal moment” for Kiev, while Zelensky thanked the visiting diplomat for “this enormous support that you’re providing on a day to day basis.”
And he is absolutely correct, since, granted that the average attention span of armchair strategists is about that of an aquarium fish, VSU's offensive was effective in terms of disposing of many thousands VSU personnel killed, and even more wounded, not counting the hardware lost. The new number which begins circulating now re: VSU KIAs is huge--up to 10,000 KIAs. Confirmed number of wounded in Krivoy Rog hospitals--mind you, it is more than 150 kilometers from the battle area--was in excess of 3,500. Hospitals in much closer Nikolaev were overflowing with thousands of wounded. Same goes for Odessa hospitals, but hey, at least they hoisted a flag over hospital in Vysokopolie. Same pattern, now in different terrain, repeats itself in Kharkov oblast.
Also, for two days now Telegram Channels manned mostly by military ignoramuses scream about the doom for Balakleya. Sure, it may even fall. But here is Apti Alaudinov, the commander of Kadyrov formations (Akhmat) today:
Translation: “What is happening today was planned. This is a tactical ploy that helped us to pull all their forces and means to the territory where it is convenient for us to fight with them.
But, of course, what this courageous and shrewd tactician in command of a large formation really knows compared to those Telegram Channels "analysts". Moreover, I stumbled today into new military "profundity". I will not say where, but get this--one moron concluded that total physical annihilation of enemy's personnel and hardware is not enough for victory. Right, you need the photo of the flag over some building and then the victory is complete. Meanwhile Milley, together with Pentagon, continue to live in alternative universe and continue to embarrass US Armed Forces.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley confirmed Thursday that Ukraine has officially launched a major counteroffensive on its 1,500-mile-long front lines in a move to repel Russian forces from its borders. "At the beginning of this month, on or about the first of September, Ukraine launched an offensive in order to seize operational and strategic initiative. That offensive is ongoing," Milley told reporters from Ramstein Air Base, Germany. "That offensive is in its early stages." Milley said it was too early to provide an assessment of how Ukraine is progressing, though reporting this week has suggested that Ukrainian forces made some operational advances in the Kharkiv region in the north as well as the Kherson region in the south.
Evidently, Milley and the JCS have a very vague understanding of modern warfare and offensive operations, not to speak of scales, but while Milley was delivering this BS to the Rammstein format "conference". Kadyrov's people entered Soledar and solidified their hold on it (in Russian). And that is another thing which has to be kept in mind--I am officially now on record--the SMO's result is a complete destruction of any remaining reputation of the American ground warfare "school". US is DIRECTLY (together with London) involved into C4ISR for VSU (Ukraine's military). Or, as the Russian Permanent Representative at the UN Nebenzya stated today (in Russian): NATO literally runs the war in Ukraine in manual mode. Considering the fact of the West's (primarily US) "glorious" ground war history, it is not surprising that the only effect American generals can achieve is the one in the PR arena. They are desperate for a number of purely "professional" reasons, those reasons being the modern US military history where it lost all of its wars after 1953. With the exception of that grand operation in Grenada and turkey shoot in Iraq.
So, what's the real deal, then, in Kharkov oblast? I think we will see similar developments as it was in Kherson with the difference that this time VSU losses will be even more terrifying. Have patience and do not read telegram channels if you really want to follow events as they unfold operationally, and strategically. And pay attention to the increased activity of IPSO assets on all media platforms--it is the only type of warfare the combined West knows how to conduct. The rest? Well, as Andrei Raevsky yesterday astutely pointed out:
Couldn't have said it better myself. Meanwhile the Russian Army reserves are pouring into Kharkov oblast (in Russian)and something tells me that this is just the start of the slaughter of the VSU which will make even the Kherson "offensive" pale in comparison.

Somebody, Stop Medvedev, LOL)
But he is right, that is why it is so funny--he minces no words and calls it as it is.
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said the new UK prime minister, Liz Truss, will continue the “tradition” started by her predecessor Boris Johnson by finishing her tenure “in disgrace.” Truss, formerly the foreign secretary in Johnson’s Conservative government, officially became prime minister on Tuesday. Taking to Telegram on Wednesday, Medvedev, who currently serves as deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, commented on the succession of governments in the UK: “Out goes the freak guy, in comes the freak lady.” He described the new PM as “an incompetent and mediocre thermonuclear Russophobe who has no elementary ideas about politics, history, geography, but wants to defeat Russia in everything.”
Western "elites" are a freak show. Wherever you look nowadays you see only one human pathology after another both in moral and even physical terms. With the exception of Bearbock, who compensates acceptable physical appearance with being an ignorant fanatic, and, to a certain degree Ursula von Der Lugen, most what we see nowadays is downright repulsive. Western women in politics are now nothing more than holographic projections of the third wave feminism which is a euphemism for turning modern woman into bizarre male units with vaginas. But then again, after this:
No comments. After BoJo, however, one should not be surprised with anything or anyone getting on top of British political Parnassus, because it will be a guarantee of having an ignorant, and, frankly, very unattractive person.

... and that's the way you do it.
Russia not only has destroyed Ukraine’s stockpiles that existed at the start of the war, but it is eliminating planes, tanks and MRLS systems subsequently provided by NATO and the United States. Has Ukraine destroyed some Russian aircraft, helicopters, tanks and armored vehicles? Yes. But so what. Russian losses are only a minuscule fraction of their total strength and Russia, unlike Ukraine, has factories that are continuing to produce equipment and weapons lost or expended during the course of this conflict.
So with these numbers in mind, carefully consider what is happening to Ukraine’s military force in its current offensive. It is being decimated. Capturing a rural village or two or pushing the Donetsk or Luhansk militias backwards a few kilometers is tactically insignificant. The truth of the matter is that Russia is relying on the Donbas militias to do the bulk of the front line fighting because it is home for those militias. Claims that the Russian military has suffered major casualties is delusional because the Russian forces are in the rear and providing fire support–ground and air–to the Donbas militias. Yes, there are some Russian troops on the frontlines in some places, but the cold, hard fact is that Russia has not committed a significant portion of its total military forces to the battle. Not yet, anyway. The reality, which the United States and NATO are loathe to accept, is that Russia’s defeat of the Ukrainian military is inevitable; even if the United States or NATO made the suicidal decision to send their own forces into the fray.
