Brian and Angelo are cautious regarding recent events in the Middle East. They believe the US Hegemon (with Israel's conscious or objective assist) may be playing intricate and highly devious games to detonate a regionwide conflagration. Hamas, for one thing, may have been chosen by Israel and the US to play a divisive role among Palestinian factions, while maintaining the image of a fanatical anti-Israeli threat, eventually even allowing Oct. 7 attacks to permit Israel and the US to flatten Gaza, and provoke Iran and other members of the anti-Zionist/imperialist alliance to step in, thereby justifying, again a reasonable "response" that would destroy Iran and the forces resisting Western hegemony. In that sense, Oct 7 would be analogous to 9/11, a pretext to launch a vast imperialist campaign. 

 

It's clear that the US is using a highly hypocritical strategy. They want it to look like the US did not want to have a major war but they could not restrain Israel and finally had to join in to protect Israel. That's why the media are now painting Israel as an out-of-control bad guy. A player that might even use nuclear weapons (supposedly against the US advice!) to secure its goals.  Ultimately, in all major fronts, from the EU and Ukraine to Palestine and China, the Hegemon is seeking to detonate conflicts, cause chaos and major wars, as the only way to brake or stop the global drift to multilateralism, cooperation and sovereignty. Sovereignty, after all, is essential. Without controlling their own governments, without controlling their borders and information space, nations cannot operate with true independence. That's why Washington will rather burn a whole region to the ground, destroy entire economies, than accept a non-Hegemonic status. 

China, highly dependent on outside energy sources, is vulnerable to American-engineered disruptions in the Mideast.  If the US set off a war that severed the normal flow of hydrocarbons, Beijing might find itself in a tight spot despite their access to Russian energy. Eventually, Beijing may have to respond to US provocations and jump into the trap. She better be ready for it, as Russia clearly was, and the same goes for Iran.
