EDITOR—Dr. Michael Hudson is an American economist, Professor of Economics at the University of Missouri–Kansas City and a researcher at the Levy Economics Institute at Bard College, former Wall Street analyst, political consultant, commentator and journalist. Dr. Steve Keen is an Australian economist and author. A post-Keynesian, he criticizes neoclassical economics as inconsistent, unscientific and empirically unsupported. Our conversation examines the false dichotomy of capitalism v. socialism and considers the true dichotomy, which is industrial capitalism v. finance capitalism. Hudson and Keen argue that the transition to finance capitalism, where unearned income is considered economic growth, has truly sown the seeds to ruin the world. GAZA PROTESTS: The World Has Spoken, but Is Any “Leader” listening?
140 Mins plus readEDITOR—Across the globe millions of people have hit the streets asking their “leaders” to stop the Palestinian massacres and implement an immediate ceasefire. So far, except for evasions and tons of hypocrisy defying the obvious, the US empire and its satrapies seem to be holding firm in their support for Israel. The problem is that the truth has finally gotten out to the public, and now everyone not utterly brainwashed can see in plain sight the depraved criminality of the West and its imperial outpost in the Middle East. Their propaganda machinery is not working. The masses are also quickly learning they do not live in a democracy, and that they simply lack genuine political representation. At this point, too much has happened, so it would be foolish to think the world and the Palestinians can accept the status quo ante. Nothing short of a complete and guaranteed Palestinian independence will do to attain a lasting peace. Else, a major war can consume the region and even the world.

Speaking of politically obtuse celebrities (the vast majority)
55 minutes readEDITOR—Even though things have been changing pretty fast since Russia began its SMO in Ukraine in February 2022, and accelerated even further since Hamas’ audacious assault on Oct. 7 last, American imperial soft power (which includes other Western “news” services and media) is still huge today because it’s been around for far longer than its ideological competitors and is rooted in enormous transnational platforms with considerable resources dedicated to the manufacturing of political reality, not to mention a pop culture that has not yet lost its seductiveness to many naive souls around the world.

Donald Rumsfeld’s Ghost About My Known Knowns
36 minutes readE J CURTIN—Thirteen months after Rumsfeld’s exchange in the news conference, the United States invaded Iraq on March 19, 2003, knowing it had no justification. It was a war of aggression. Millions died as a result. And none of the killers have been prosecuted for their massive war crimes. The war was not launched on mistaken evidence; it was premeditated and based on lies easy to see. Very, very easy to see.
