BRIAN BERLETIC—The US-backed opposition in Thailand replicates in many ways the violence and intimidation the US sponsored in Ukraine from 2014 onward – just as Ukraine is meant as a proxy against Russia – a US client regime in Thailand would transform the country into a proxy against China. An alarming incident of violence where a Thai opposition leader publicly assaulted his critic is dangerously being portrayed as “heroic” by Western-sponsored opposition media to encourage further violence and intimidation – creating the same division and destruction throughout Thai society that is currently consuming Ukraine.

JIMMY DORE—Ever since achieving independence 200 years ago from a vengeful France, Haiti has borne the brunt of U.S. imperialism, suffering repeated military invasions, political interference and ongoing economic exploitation at the hands of the hemisphere’s dominant power. And now, with unrest growing in the Caribbean nation over austerity and political corruption, the United States and Canada are sending “help” in the form of armored vehicles and military personnel. Because what’s better for hungry, suffering people than an invading military force? Jimmy and America’s Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss the centuries of suffering Haiti has experienced – and continues to experience – under the pretense of “help” from the United States.

Late night comics are the oligarchy’s court jesters. Always on a self-imposed leash. Without exception.
12 minutes readDOROTHY LENNON—In the past, I’ve written about how late night comedians are the court approved jesters of the oligarchy. When I post my commentary, someone usually asks, “But what about John Oliver? He is usually better.” No, he’s not. My analysis is applicable to the HBO host. During the 2016 election, he castigated those who dared to venture outside the two corporate parties. When dissecting Green Party nominee Jill Stein’s proposal to cancel all student debt, he compared it to Donald Trump’s proposal to compel Mexico to pay for a border wall. Recently, he defended and omitted information about transgender athletes and puberty blockers for children being peddled by Big Pharma.

DOROTHY LENNON—Here’s the most important point, Gabbard’s exit frightens the neoliberals and self-proclaimed progressives in the Democratic Party because it could be the beginning of the exodus we should have seen long ago. As I’ve previously stated, figures such as AOC and Bernie Sanders serve to cripple working class movements from flourishing outside the Party. They repeat “vote blue no matter who” propaganda and shame those for leaving the Democrats behind.

JIMMY DORE—Since Roe v Wade was first decided nearly 50 years ago, Democrats have had any number of opportunities when they controlled both houses of Congress as well as the Presidency to “codify” Roe into law and guarantee legal abortion in all 50 states. Obama famously promised on the campaign trail in 2007 that codifying Roe would be his first priority but then once elected he made it clear he had no plans to do anything of the kind. So it is with no little suspicion that many are greeting the recent pledge from Joe Biden that if the Democrats emerge from the 2022 midterms with a Democratic House and two more Democratic senators he will do what Obama promised and pass legal abortion across the country.
