Editor’s Note: We are lucky to have French-American Jeff J. Brown, an expert on China, the Mideast, France, and other cultures, as one of our editorial pillars. (Jeff is of course the editor-in-chief of the unique China Rising blog, a sister entity to TGP). His expertise on China, indispensable for any American or Westerner, spanning already three major books, is detailed below. In this episode, Jeff joins Ania K., to chat about the rapidly deteriorating situation in France and the EU/NATO blocs, in general, as self-serving, US-pushed neoliberal imperial policies seem to be finally harvesting the same reaction across the continent in hitherto contained populations: anger, frustration and an almost universal desire for regime change that still lacks a fitting political channel.

TOWARDS A COMMUNIST THEORY OF THE EMOTIONS: WHY YOUR EMOTIONS ARE NOT YOUR PRIVATE PROPERTY
56 minutes readBRUCE LERRO—“Emotions” are one of those words that everyone thinks understand until you press them with questions. Broadly speaking, Western philosophers have not thought well of emotions. It was not until the time of the Romantics at the end of the 18th century that the tide turned in favor of the emotions. Here is a history of how the leading lights of the West thought of emotions.

FRANK SCOTT—Eight percent of Americans are millionaires, multi-millionaires and billionaires, yet large portions of the 92% relatively helpless majority are programmed to proclaim “our” democracy in the way that the house Negros of slavery days might have claimed “our” plantation. * They certainly lived much more comfortable lives than the field Negros but were no more than domestic slaves taught to keep their lower-ranked field slaves quiet in times of stress. That’s the economic position of average Americans compared to those who buy, rent and own the state which does their bidding, only making some room for the house negro citizens of any and all skin tones, sexual preferences and religions when it fits their plans and avoids uprisings or revolutions.

PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS—It should be obvious that Western Civilization no longer exists. A civilization is defined by its values, such as free speech, and when those values are no longer honored, the civilization no longer exists. Think about what the US government has done to Julian Assange. His decade-long incarceration in the absence of charges, trial, and conviction violates all legal principles that comprise our constitutional protections from arbitrary and unjust treatment by government. It shows how far gone we are that Assange’s illegal and unconstitutional treatment continues year after year and produces no outrage from Congress, media, law schools, bar organizations, courts, or the American population.

PEPE ESCOBAR—Everyone with a brain following the ghastly Eurocrat machinations in Brussels was aware of the main plot – yet hardly anyone among average EU citizens. Habeck, Chancellor “Liver Sausage” Scholz, the European Commission (EC) Green Energy VP Timmermans, EC dominatrix Ursula von der Leyen, they are all involved.
In a nutshell: as Engdahl describes it, this is about “the EU plan to de-industrialize one of the most energy-efficient industrial concentrations on the planet.”
