If you are reading this, it’s likely the result of a long and ongoing process where at some point you got very curious about what’s going on in the world and managed to punch through the fog of mass media psyops with a mixture of research, logic, and insight. But the fact that you had to do this means everyone is being constantly psychologically assaulted at mass scale by very powerful people.

You never signed up for this. None of us ever signed up to have our minds pummelled with continuous plutocratic psyops working to manipulate the way we perceive reality. This is an unprovoked act of aggression against us all, and a violation of our personal sovereignty.

Mass media, think tanks, NGOs, algorithm manipulation, social media censorship, the entire education system: all the systems which we’ve been conditioned to look to to figure out what’s going on in the world are just indoctrination programs disguised as information and education. It is disgusting, and it is abusive.

You never signed up for this. None of us ever signed up to have our minds pummelled with continuous plutocratic psyops working to manipulate the way we perceive reality. This is an unprovoked act of aggression against us all, and a violation of our personal sovereignty.

As long as the wealthy and powerful are manipulating the way we think, act and vote at mass scale, they’re going to keep enacting their psychopathic will upon the world. We’re going to have to find a way to wake up from the blanket of perception management they’ve laid over our species, or we will go the way of the dinosaur.

Luckily, we already have our answer on how to do that in everything we know about our species already. The only thing that ever leads to positive changes in human behavior is an expansion of consciousness.

Any time you see a positive change in human behavior, the underlying point of influence in that shift will always be an increase in awareness. This is true whether you’re talking about the behavior of an individual human, or humanity as a whole, or any collective grouping within those two extremes. Much like a physical law, this is a constant principle of human life in this world.

When someone with an anger problem experiences a healthy change in their relationship with that emotion, it will always be because they became more conscious of the mental and emotional processes within them, either by therapy, introspection, reading a self-help book, or some combination of factors. Because they got conscious of what’s going on inside themselves, they are no longer passive passengers in the matter of when and how their anger manifests, but an active participant in it.

When a society decides that racism is a destructive and unjust feature of society, it will always be the result of a concerted effort to bring awareness to that injustice and destructiveness. Because activists worked hard to bring awareness to the abusive and undesirable nature of slavery, apartheid, prejudice, etc, desirable changes in the collective relationship with those abusive elements took place. Still plenty of work to do, but change has definitely happened, and it happened because of an increase in awareness.

Positive behavioral changes can of course be the result of improved material conditions like the elimination of poverty in a certain area, but that movement to eliminate poverty was always itself ultimately the result of someone or a group of someones becoming aware of better systems for improving people’s material conditions and of how to put those systems into effect. There would also need to be an increase in awareness of the torturous nature of poverty.

Now, think about that process mentioned earlier where you began educating yourself about what’s going on in the world. What was that apart from an expansion of awareness? You didn’t used to be aware of the true nature of government, war, propaganda, empire building and oligarchy, but now you are. This led to a positive change in that you are now able to make truth-based thoughts, speech and actions in the world you live in.

If this can happen individually, it can happen collectively as well. People can collectively move into a truth-based way of acting on this earth, and make positive changes accordingly. We can become collectively aware of abusive government and oligarchic systems of rule, and replace them with healthy systems of organization. We can become collectively aware of the ecocidal nature of predatory capitalism, and move into a collaborative relationship with our ecosystem. We can become collectively aware of the self-defeating nature of competition-based social models, and create systems in which people around the world collaborate for the good of the whole rather than competing with each other as individuals, corporations and countries.

This is a very simple principle: the more awareness there is, the more harmony there will be. But just because it’s simple doesn’t mean it’s easy.

The deck is stacked very aggressively against the collective expansion of consciousness. Government secrecy, propaganda, and systematic indoctrination from early childhood are all carefully engineered by the ruling class to ensure the continuation of their rule.

All we can do in response to this is help spread awareness as much as we can. Right now the number of people who understand what’s going on is very small, and the powerful aim to keep it that way; that’s why internet censorship campaigns are ramping up like never before and critical natsec journalism is being aggressively attacked. But if we can be very clever and spread truthful information in a way that helps wake up even one person to what’s really going on, our numbers grow by that much, and then that’s one more person you have working to awaken the world.

It’s not at all impossible to get an explosion of collective consciousness happening in such a scenario. Not easy. But certainly not impossible.

So the answer to the ever-present question “What can we do?” is, spread awareness. Spread awareness outwardly in the world in whatever fun and creative ways you can, and spread awareness inwardly to your own psychological processes as well, since that’s part of the network of humanity we’re trying to bring into consciousness.

The expansion of consciousness can occur to a limitless extent inwardly, up to and including the never-ending journey of spiritual enlightenment, and it can happen to a limitless extent outwardly, up to and including a peaceful and harmonious world in which we collaborate with each other and with our ecosystem for the good of everyone.

This absolutely can happen, and the first step is spread awareness. After that, the next step is spread awareness. This also will be the step after that, and the step after that, and, if we ever find our way home, it will be the final step as well.

Do everything you can to expand consciousness, in yourself and in the world, and you cannot help but move humanity toward health.

At 81, the great Harpal Brar, Indian-born but long a resident of Britain, communist party founder, and revolutionary theorist, is without a doubt one of the few remaining great Marxist-Leninist thinkers of the old school. In his political career, he has fought not just the capitalist enemy, but all forms of fake and theoretically erroneous leftism, from anarchism to social democracy and Trotskyism, along with communist revisionism (which undermined and eventually contributed to the collapse of the Soviet Union from within). This chat with Harpal is simply to be prized. Brar's work deserves attention and our gratitude. We are glad Caleb Maupin arranged to make this interview widely available to activists everywhere.

When Harpal was describing how the Soviet System was able to withstand the monstrous onslaught brought upon its people by the Nazis and their imperial backers, and how they united all of those people, from so many different nationalities, to eventually steamroll the Third Reich and plant that flag on top of the Reichstag, I got tears in my eyes. The victory of the Red Army, in World War 2, is probably the greatest triumph of good over evil in all of human history!

Tribute to Dennis Etler, disseminator of indispensable truths about China

Background: Dennis Etler, an American academic committed to peace and anti-imperialist struggles, worked tirelessly to push back against the barrage of disinformation the West has hurled and continues to hurl at China. Dennis understood well that in the US playbook. character assassination usually precedes all-out attacks and even full kinetic wars. This is why the Big Lie, on which the Western elites and particularly the US rely so heavily, is also so eminently dangerous. Dennis saw early that President Xi was a superior type of politician, and an extraordinary human being, and that under his direction China would probably accomplish great things. He therefore founded a page on Facebook (!) simply entitled Xi Jinping - China's Exceptional President. The group, certainly one of the most unique and essential on Facebook, declared its purpose thusly:

President Xi Jinping is China's exceptional leader. In his eight years as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and seven years as President of China, Xi has set China on a dynamic new course. He has become extremely popular in China for his leadership both at home and abroad. Unfortunately because of the monopolistic corporate control of the Western media his accomplishments are not getting the attention they deserve outside of China. This group is meant to rectify that and inform members about the great strides China is making in domestic reform and opening up to the outside world.

In addition, the group supports the anti-imperialist, pro-national sovereignty (non-aligned movement of the past) movement being led by the peace-loving People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation. Both China and Russia suffered immensely during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the Great Patriotic War against Nazi Germany. Both have vowed, never again. There is an emerging coalition of forces coalescing around an anti-imperialist united front. It includes the anti-imperialist left, as well as portions of the libertarian movement and honest progressives of different political persuasions. Our group welcomes their participation.

Dennis Etler passed away suddenly in June of this year. His friends and colleagues have vowed that the struggle to which he was so dedicated, will continue.  Their commitment is expressed in the tribute to Etler we reproduce below. As an anti-imperialist publication, a tool against war and oppression, and as admirers of China's culture and astonishing accomplishments, we join our comrades in mourning the passing of Dennis Etler.

With what words to mourn Dennis Etler, who died so suddenly and unexpectedly on 3 June 2021?

As his moderators on the page, Xi Jinping--China's Exceptional President, we are at a loss to express our sadness at the passing of the founder. 

We, therefore, seek solace in remembering and honoring his thought, life, and work.

The sheer scope of Dennis' interest in China, past and present, and his exceptional command of what he knew, continues to humble us--as do his knowledge of historic detail and his extraordinary powers of synthesis in his essays and articles.

Dennis was an academic. He held a doctorate in anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley, and conducted archaeological and anthropological research in China throughout the 1980s and 1990s. He taught at the college and university level for over 35 years. 

But, he was the sort of teacher committed not only to his profession but also to the social good. This drew him to China, where he saw great strides in human progress.

In his retirement, he founded the discussion page Xi Jinping--China's Exceptional President.. He worked tirelessly until it grew to number 35,000 members--and he valued and took pride in the membership's active contributions.

On the page, he showed what true leadership entails: modesty, integrity, respect, and caring. As many of you know, he was solicitous to questions, queries, and suggestions. He had the personal style of the compassionate comrade.

For that is what Dennis was before anything else--a comrade. He carried a colossal amount of work on his back, and yet he always found time for the personal.

He founded the page originally to provide a forum for discussing the Marxist-Leninist philosophy of Xi Jinping, at a time when the socialist character of China's government was an object of derision among many Western leftists. In fact, Xi Jinping was steering the Communist Party of China back to ideological origins and founding principles.

As under Xi's leadership, the party rid itself of corrupt and ideologically dodgy officials and grew more compact and unified, China grew stronger, more self-determined, more decisive.

Xi's visionary Belt and Road initiative, launched in 2013, finally alerted the Western powers that China was not likely to be destabilized by internal forces, guided from abroad. At this point, the Western powers began their false propaganda war on China.

Dennis' original focus for the Xi discussion page necessarily shifted from ideology to combating disinformation, as the most immediately imperative defensive front.

This necessary shift, conditioned by facts on the ground, is an example of Dennis' own Marxist practice and, too, the reflection of his learning from China's theoretical "socialism with Chinese characteristics." Original intentions are fine, but changing reality necessitate adaptations.

Dennis, in recent months, was invited to become a correspondent for CGTN. The articles he wrote for CGTN revealed to readers the dark side of American history, a necessary counter-narrative to Washington's relentless assaults of painting China as abuser of human rights. 

In addition, Dennis conducted interviews for Iran's PressTV, looked forward to projects that would extend the reach of the Xi page to embrace and affect more and more people in their quest for consciousness of the turn that history was taking humankind.

For Dennis, If China was the center of change, humanity was the horizon.

Dennis was an internationalist. That is why the Xi page is so rich, so appreciative of the global diversity of its members.

It remains for us to conclude that we, the moderators, are determined to continue his legacy; to keep the page going, to serve the members what they need and want to know.

Above all to be sharers in common work.

To Dennis: you are not gone, dear comrade. People like you never die. They live in the consciousness of people whose minds they have changed and caused to be alive with thirst for truth and justice.

To Dennis' family: our deepest sympathy and condolences.

To the members: the long march continues. Dennis is with us and leads us still.

The War on Cuba—excellent documentary series exposing the naked criminality of US foreign policy

Absent an outright military attack, the US is applying to Cuba the same old formula that eventually undermined the mighty Soviet Union: Permanent economic warfare by all possible means, reinforced by an aggressive disinformation campaign designed to destroy the target population's morale and faith in their own system.

The repugnant evil of US policy toward Cuba is undeniable and in the open; it's been so for decades—six and counting—and yet no one can do much about it because the rulers of the US, the billionaires that comprise its sociopathic oligarchy, will not lift their crippling economic embargo on the island, a polite term for economic warfare. And they can't be forced to remove their sanctions—completely illegal from the standpoint of international law—because they hide behind America's bloated military muscle and a thick wall of disinformation loyally operated by the system's prostituted media. We know why this is being done. Cuba is hated and demonised by US ruling elites and their accomplices around the globe for the same reasons the Soviet Union and Communist China, and more recently Venezuela, Nicaragua and Iran have also been hated and feared: they provide a living demonstration that humanity has much better choices than the "American Way of Life," that is, irrational and savagely predatory capitalism.

Trump, a malignant capitalist clown, had no problem imposing draconian sanctions on Cuba. Pandering to the Cuban gusanos in Florida, a key state, is what US leading politicians do. Biden, as expected from a Democrat phony, has made the situation even worse.


The example of any successful socialist nation cannot be permitted, say the rulers of the global US empire. It could prove contagious and subversive. Running a fraudulent system that is not a democracy, that is perennially riddled with crime and corruption; that continually drowns in unresolvable contradictions, from frequent, devastating economic recessions to incurable unemployment and constant recourse to war, that sinks ever deeper into obscene inequality, that has long been involved in deliberate ecocide, they have reason to fear the example of socialism. In this series of videos, prepared by the Belly of the Beast project, the case of Cuba is eloquently explained. Americans who never understood this issue well can now start to realise the immensity of their country's hypocrisy and possibly do something to rectify such wrongs. In so doing, by shedding their indoctrination in US exceptionalism; by discarding their belief in the immaculate conception of American foreign policy, they may finally rejoin the 95% of humanity that already sees the world as it really is, and not upside down as it is usually presented by the whores of the political and media system of the United States, and much of what passes for "the Free World". The Appendix explains how the Belly of the Beast journalist collective sprang into action to serve as a journalistic bridge and conduit between Cubans and Americans working to tell the truth about Cuba.

Reed Lindsay: War On Cuba

Filmed in Cuba, the “War on Cuba” is a powerful new documentary series unlike any seen before. It was produced by a unique collaborative of US and Cuban journalists and documentary filmmakers called the Belly of the Beast. Formed in early 2020, it is the only media organization with a permanent presence in Cuba that combines cinematic video with substantive, high-impact journalism geared toward filling the void left by media coverage of Cuba and US-Cuba relations. The film was viewed more than 400,000 times on the Internet and Belly of the Beast has grown its social media presence from zero to 30,000 followers in only nine months on various platforms. This week I interview the director of the series Reed Lindsay who is also the founder of Belly of the Beast. Then we are going to broadcast all three segments of “War on Cuba” for the first time on Television. Reed tells me that they are gearing up to produce more segments this year, which we hope to broadcast.
