It’s Not About Right or Left, It’s About Neoliberalism. Mickey Huff on Big Tech’s Efforts To Purge Dissent
20 minutes readAs for the persistent cries from conservative circles about a liberal conspiracy to shut down right-leaning social media channels, “it turns out that right-wing propaganda and right-wing voices are actually louder on Twitter and Facebook. They get retweeted more,” Huff states. The reality seems to reflect an equal opportunity approach to censorship that Huff qualifies as “a bipartisan effort to control the public narrative,” and accounts for the fact “that people further to the right and further to the left are marginalized and are kept out of the discussions and debates.”

PATRICE GREANVILLE—In this segment, Caleb interviews Christopher Helali, a Communist candidate to the US Congress (PCUSA), based in Vermont. Helali’s background is most interesting: he’s a small farmer, and a descendant of Greek communist partisans who fought the Nazis and later the reactionaries supported by the British and the Americans after the war. Despite his open leftwing views, he enjoys a fraternal relationship with working class men and fellow farmers, mny of whom support Trump, and is able to educate them about the issues confronting them all—in itself a major breakthrough considering the cultural circumstances. Don’t miss this highly instructive and inspiring chat. In the recent 2020 election, although the Democrat candidate (Peter Welch) won, as expected, by a huge majority with 67% of the vote, Helali managed a respectable 1%, with 3,432 people casting their ballot for him. This despite the fact he lacked the enormous financial and media resources enjoyed by the Democrat incumbent, and that he had to communicate his message while pushing back against the deep-seated anti-communist hostility and appalling ignorance that defines the US electorate. Obviously his honesty, courage, steadfastness, and cogency played a big role in this outcome.

In the wake of the shambolic and somewhat dreaded 2020 presidential election, some critics like Jimmy Dore remind the masses why the Democrats, again, performed so abysmally.

Google admits to censoring the World Socialist Web Site (and other top genuine left websites)
15 minutes readKEVIN REED—In November 2019, the Wall Street Journal substantiated the position of the WSWS that Google was manipulating its search algorithm to suppress content from being surfaced by its search engine. The Journal wrote, “Despite publicly denying doing so, Google keeps blacklists to remove certain sites or prevent others from surfacing in certain types of results.”
