The ROK Right-wing, as I said, is descended from people who collaborated with the Japanese in the colonial occupation and benefitted from Japan's annexation of Korea.

The ROK's wealthy elite have simply switched one master for another. They worship big powers and hate their own countrymen. They hate Korea and love Japan and America. They want ROK to be subordinated to Japan and USA forever because they benefit from such a state.

That said, I don't have such a great opinion of the ROK Left Wing nowadays. I don't think they know what they're doing nor do they have a vision to unite the country

My family, as I said, is very Pro-American, Pro-Capitalist, Anti-Communist, and Anti-North.

I've tried sharing the books I've read with them and they don't want to hear it.

Good thing that I didn't get influenced by their views. I developed my own views after independent research.

To be frank, I am not sure which class I belong to. I was born into the bourgeois class, but am not exactly a capitalist. But I don't come from a poor, working class background.

I don't feel like I belong to any.

In nearly four hours of grueling congressional testimony before the Republican-led Committee on Education and the Workforce, the president of Columbia University, Nemat "Minouche" Shafik, said she had taken serious action against accusations of antisemitism on campus in recent months amid Israel's assault on Gaza, including dismissing or removing five faculty members from the classroom, suspending 15 students and suspending two student groups — Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace. Shafik's visit to Capitol Hill is the latest in a series of hearings on alleged antisemitism at elite U.S. private schools. In December, similar hearings led to the resignations of the presidents of Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania. Our guests Nara Milanich and Rebecca Jordan-Young, both professors at Barnard College and Columbia University, respond to the televised hearings. "What happened at those hearings yesterday should be of grave concern to everybody," warns Jordan-Young. "What we got was a live performance [of President Shafik] throwing the entire university system under the bus." Adds Milanich, "Antisemitism here is being used as a wedge. It's being used as a Trojan horse for a very different political agenda."

NOTE: Minouche Shafik has all the earmarks of an "Egyptian gusano". Obviously, she has made a very good career as a privileged operator facilitating and thriving in the imperialist West. Just consider this glowing excerpt from the Wikipedia:

Previously, Shafik served as deputy governor of the Bank of England from 2014 to 2017 and permanent secretary of the United Kingdom Department for International Development from 2008 to 2011.[2] She has also served as a vice president at the World Bank[3] and as deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund.[4]

Shafik was born in Alexandria, Egypt, to parents who were both educators.[5] Her father was also a scientist and wealthy landowner.[6][7] As a child, she went to Schutz American School. When she was 4, the Egyptian government seized her father's property[8] and the family moved to Savannah, Georgia in the mid-1960s, then to Miami and Raleigh, North Carolina.[9]

Master of Science degree in economics from the London School of Economics in 1986; and a Doctorate of Philosophy in economics from the University of Oxford, in 1989.[10]

Career

After Oxford, Shafik joined the World Bank and held a variety of roles, starting in the research department where she worked on global economic modelling and forecasting and then later on environmental issues. She moved to do macroeconomic work on Europe and the Middle East where she published a number of books and articles on the region's economic future, the economics of peace, labour markets, regional integration, and gender issues.[11] At age 36, Shafik became the World Bank's youngest-ever Vice President.[12][13]

Intercept: Leaked NYT Gaza Memo Tells Journalists to Avoid Words “Genocide,” “Ethnic Cleansing,” and “Occupied Territory”

A New York Times staffer told the Intercept(4/15/24) that the paper was "basically taking the occupation out of the coverage, which is the actual core of the conflict.”

 

New York Times editors issued a memo to staffers that warned against the use of "inflammatory language and incendiary accusations on all sides"—but the instructions offered by the memo, which was leaked to the Intercept (4/15/24), seemed designed to dampen criticism of Israel's actions in Gaza and to reinforce the Israeli narrative of the conflict.

Among the terms the memo tells Times reporters to avoid: "Palestine" ("except in very rare cases"), "occupied territories" (say "Gaza, the West Bank, etc.") and "refugee camps" ("refer to them as neighborhoods, or areas").

United Nations and 140 of its 193 members. The "occupied territories" are the way Gaza and the West Bank are referred to by the UN as well as the United States. "Refugee camps" are what they are called by the UN agency that administers the eight camps in Gaza.

The memo discourages the use of the terms "genocide" ("We should...set a high bar for allowing others to use it as an accusation") and "ethnic cleansing" ("another historically charged term").

Genocide Convention as certain "acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such." These acts include "killing members of the group" and "deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part." The International Court of Justice ruled in January that it was "plausible" that Israel was in violation of the Genocide Convention (NPR, 1/26/24). A US federal judge has likewise held that "the current treatment of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip by the Israeli military may plausibly constitute a genocide in violation of international law” (Guardian, 2/1/24).

“Our goal is to provide clear, accurate information, and heated language can often obscure rather than clarify the fact,” says the memo, written by Times standards editor Susan Wessling and international editor Philip Pan, along with their deputies. “Words like ‘slaughter,’ ‘massacre’ and ‘carnage’ often convey more emotion than information. Think hard before using them in our own voice.” The memo asks, “Can we articulate why we are applying those words to one particular situation and not another?"

When Times articles used the word "brutal" to describe a party in the Gaza conflict, 73% of the time it was used to characterize Palestinians. An analysis by the Intercept(1/9/24) of Gaza crisis coverage in the Times (as well as the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal) found that

highly emotive terms for the killing of civilians like “slaughter,” “massacre” and “horrific” were reserved almost exclusively for Israelis who were killed by Palestinians, rather than the other way around.

The publisher and the NYT editorial cabal, predominantly Zionists, know damn well what they are doing. In fact their editorial dishonesty is so blatant that even Israeli newspapers such as Haaretz, in the middle of this conflict, easily put the NYT to shame in terms of journalistic standards.

Iran carried out a strike over the weekend of April 13 and 14 in retaliation for the Israeli bombing on April 1 of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria. Embassies are the sovereign territory of the country represented, effectively making it an Israeli attack on Iran.

In the West, the Iranian response, which was announced in advance and targeted only a military base, has received significantly more attention. Pundits and politicians called it a grave escalation, the opposite of reality.

And of course this is all happening while Israel continues its genocide of the Palestinian people, with the diplomatic, political and economic support of the United States government. Will the strikes inflame tensions in the region past the point of no return? We’re joined by Mazda Majidi, an Iranian author, journalist and anti-war activist to discuss the possibility of escalation and who the regional players are.

This is a video article for the most part. First up, I do a five-minute rant on the current effort of Western intelligence to carry out a color revolution in Georgia under the guise of promoting freedom and democracy. Bullshit!! Georgia’s legislature passed a new law that mirrors the U.S. Foreign Agent Registration Act (aka FARA). The Georgian law will require Non-Governmental Organizations receiving foreign funds to report those. Good Lord!! Can’t have that. It might expose CIA and MI-6 operations designed to install a government in Georgia that will bend the knee to the West.

I am always honored to be invited to appear on The Duran with Alex Christoforou and Alexander Mercouris. They were the first one I stumbled upon at the start of the SMO who talked intelligently about the political and military dynamics. I was fortunate to come to their attention and have appeared several times since March 2022. We discussed the situation in Ukraine and Israel/Palestine. With respect to Ukraine, I explain the significance of the 12 CIA bases that the New York Times claims are scattered throughout Ukraine.
