PEPE ESCOBAR—The Straussian neocons in charge of US foreign policy could never accept Russia-China leading the way towards a multipolar world. For now we have NATO’s perpetual expansionism as their strategy to debilitate Russia, and Taiwan as their strategy to debilitate China.

OLIVER BOYD-BARRETT—The issue of Iran is discussed by Brian Berletic of New Atlas today. He critiques western main media coverage of the bombing. The BBC covered the ISIS claim of responsibility, not making it clear that Suleimani was fighting effectively against ISIS and similar organizations, designated “terrorist” by the US, in Syria (whose weapons mainly came from the USA because the weapons first went to “moderate” Islamist militia whence they were surrendered or simply handed over to Al Qaeda or its look-alikes) when the US (Trump) murdered him.

EDITOR—Garland and Libertarian party president Angela McArdle discuss what needs to be done to inject honesty, sanity and true democracy in America’s political life, currently completely eviscerated by the oligarchy’s power and the sordid work of their flunkies in the political class and a multitude of “national security” agencies—from the FBI to the CIA, the NSA, Homeland Security, etc.—all actually created to protect the 0.001% from popular power, and operating in far too many cases against the Constitution. As has been proved on a variety of occasions, and most recently confirmed by two impeccable social scientists, the US is NOT a democracy. Accordingly, given the gravity of the situation, and with a nuclear WW3 looming in the immediate horizon, Garland and Angela conclude that the salvation of the country resides in getting rid of institutions and organisations that impede authentic citizen inputs, such as the FBI, CIA, DHS, NSA, the MIC, and other forms of fascistic citizen surveillance, exploitation, and control, not to mention the corrupt and useless “uniparty”.

EDITOR—The roundtable discusses the probability that the Venezuelan / Guyana clash over territorial rights, long outstanding, may ignite a regional war with US imperialist intervention. Few things would give the frustrated US more pleasure these days than to attack a rebel nation in its own hemisphere, and where war logistics might be easier to manage than in the Middle East, Taiwan, or Ukraine. Not to mention that the Washington planners and their masters, the Neocons in the Biden administration, may think they can easily topple the Bolivarian government and seize Venezuela’s enormous oil reserves.
