If anything, the author is much too kind in the way he defines the subject. Nuland is a sociopathic Neocon—aren't they all?—that should stand before a Nuremberg-class tribunal for her countless crimes, including no less than 600,000 estimated deaths in Ukraine, counting AFU and RF casualties, an even larger host of wounded, a horrifically wrecked nation, and many crimes in other latitudes. Of course, everyone who set policy for the State Dept and the CIA should stand along with her.  A creature of the "National Security Apparatus"—the US Empire's beating heart—her resume confirms she has been embedded in the vilest corners of this criminal but often hi-falutin web of cold-blooded evil-doing: "Nuland held the rank of career ambassador, the highest diplomatic rank in the U.S. Foreign Service.[6] She is the former CEO of the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), serving from January 2018 until early 2019, and is also the Brady-Johnson distinguished practitioner in grand strategy at Yale University and a member of the board of the National Endowment for Democracy. She served as a nonresident fellow in the Brookings Institution's[7] foreign policy program and senior counselor at the Albright Stonebridge Group."  (Wikipedia)—PG
The Real Victoria Nuland: US foreign policy official retires after decades of fomenting conflict and destruction

Victoria Nuland has played a pivotal role in both constructing and executing American foreign policy over the last few decades, wreaking havoc every step of the way.

On Tuesday, the State Department announced that she will be retiring from her role “in the coming weeks.”

“Toria’s tenure caps three and a half decades of remarkable public service under six Presidents and ten Secretaries of State,” a statement from Secretary of State Antony Blinken read.

“What makes Toria truly exceptional is the fierce passion she brings to fighting for what she believes in most: freedom, democracy, human rights, and America’s enduring capacity to inspire and promote those values around the world.”

Far from her advertised qualities, Nuland has used her position of power to pursue ideological pursuits that served as a force for death and destruction.

Let’s take a look at Nuland’s resume and explore the activities of this supposed “freedom and democracy” champion.

Clinton Administration

Nuland’s first big role came in the form of serving as chief of staff to deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott, a longtime Clinton family confidant. He who would later become president of the far-left (sic) Brookings Institution, a corrupt “think tank” which, during Talbott’s tenure, served as a vessel for the interests of the government of Qatar.

From 1997 to 1999, Nuland was Deputy Director for former Soviet Union affairs at the United States Department of State, where she handled U.S. policy towards Russia.

Bush 43 Administration

From 2003 to 2005, Nuland served as the principal deputy foreign policy adviser to Vice President Dick Cheney. Nuland’s team helped to make the case for pushing the envelop in Iraq. The Bush Administration spent over $1 trillion on the war, toppling Saddam Hussein in the process, but then creating a vacuum for the birth of the Islamic State. Almost half a million people died during the war, including over 4400 U.S. troops.

After fomenting carnage in Iraq, Nuland shifted over to the NATO portfolio during the second Bush term. In her role as U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Nuland was tasked with expanding European partner commitments to the war in Afghanistan. After trillions of dollars in costs and tens of thousands of civilian and military lives lost during the 20-year war, the U.S. withdrew (ignominiously) from the country in 2021. Since then, the Taliban has come into power and now rules the country under the same flag that it did prior to 9/11/01.

Obama Administration

Nuland began her tenure in the Obama Administration as the State Department spokesperson.

From 2013 to 2015 Nuland’s portfolio was dominated by Eastern Europe and Russia. She was the American point person for the infamous “Maidan uprising” in Ukraine, which resulted in the ouster of the country’s elected president. Critics of the Nuland-led campaign have labeled her activities in Ukraine as a successful coup effort in a foreign country.

Meddling in Ukraine
Sanctimonious platitudes, couched in the hypocritical lingo used by US politicians and corporados.

Nuland in Kiev, during the "Euromaidan revolution"—distributing bread and cookies. Food for the reactionaies and the clueless. Being a descendant of Ukrainian Jews, one wonders what she thinks of Ukraine's unravelling now.

Trump Administration/Private Sector

Nuland retreats into the “private sector” within the Albright Stonebridge Group, a firm with multiple offices in Beijing and Shanghai. The organization served as a means to promote globalist ideologues and retain their employment for future high level Biden Administration appointees.

Nuland Nordstream will not move forward

"One way or another Nord Stream will not move forward..." (TGP screenshot)

As the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Nuland appeared to telegraph the future bombing of the Nord Stream pipeline, declaring that it will “not move forward” if Russia invades Ukraine.

Of course, the rest is history, and the Nord Stream system was sabotaged.

Nuland has since acted to disrupt peace talks and advance the maximalist position of fighting the Ukraine-Russia war to the very last Ukrainian, ensuring that there is more reasons for Congress to allocate untold billions to the war effort.

Surely, she will get a John McCain-like send off within the D.C. Beltway in the coming weeks. Since the 1990s, Nuland has acted to wreak maximum amounts of havoc from within the power centers of the American government, and that’s why the men and women of institutional Washington hold her in such high regard.

Only in D.C. would such a wicked “public servant” be celebrated.

Tribute to Aaron Bushnell by Iraq Veteran Mike Prysner
The airman's self-immolation is a cry we are all choking back

Aaron Bushnell: A tough example to follow.

What is courage? I can’t claim to have it myself. I don’t even have the courage to watch the video he streamed of his self-immolation, even though I know he wanted us to bear witness to it. What more painful end is there? It is a nightmare millenniums old—a fixture in the human imagination as the worst punishment even a God could inflict. But he chose it.

For Bushnell, that meant also having to put on the uniform of the institution loading the weapons, running the supply missions, providing tactical and strategic assistance to the genocide.

So we know Aaron Bushnell had courage. Far, far more than the commanders who rise through the ranks—the ones who take us to war, who sell it on cable news or in the Pentagon press room. What courage is there in pretending, in myth-making? A force for good, for democracy, for human rights, for self-defense… what a lie. A story peddled by cowards who casually direct murder from the safety of command centers, who sell the weapons from their boardrooms, or who spin fantasies in Congress. People who are revered as our leaders. Those who will no-doubt call Aaron Bushnell crazy or disturbed or misguided, but who really only see those qualities in the mirror.

We also know that Aaron Bushnell could see. In a deeply racist and propagandized society, he still saw his kinship with people he never met, across the world, with a different language, culture, and religion—a spirit of internationalism that only blooms in white America by first breaking through layers of brick-laid jingoism.

Bushnell knew that even though he was not pulling a trigger or firing a missile, being in an IT position, he still helped facilitate killing. Killing for no good reason, but plenty of bad reasons.

By the accounts I’ve heard from those who knew him, he struggled for a long time with this, as so many of us do, and tried to make up for it in other areas of his life, involving himself in progressive struggles. I’ve talked to people who regularly saw him at protests against police brutality and for abortion rights, as well as attending anti-war teach-ins, for years. He was known as mild-mannered, genuine, and deep thinking. For at least a year he had committed his time to mutual-aid work.

It is a balance many service members today try to strike, as the surge in political consciousness among young people is equally felt among young people in the military. Many become anti-war and even class-conscious, like Bushnell did.

But then came October 7 and its aftermath. The torment of Israel’s barbarism has been a trying time for all people with a conscience. We have all reeled for months through rage and hopelessness. The anxiety every morning, wondering what new tragedy we will see that continues to defy what we believed were the human limits of evil. There are moments of optimism in this wave of mass awakening, but it has mostly been a time of darkness we have been in—together, but at the same time alone.

For Bushnell, that meant also having to put on the uniform of the institution loading the weapons, running the supply missions, providing tactical and strategic assistance to the genocide. Not only that, but one also doing the killing: conducting the air strikes on Yemen, Iraq and Syria against people we have no reason or right to kill. Bushnell saw the plain truth: that he was an accomplice to all that. The truth killed him. The Pentagon brass killed him. Joe Biden and Congress killed him.

Since Oct. 7 I have spoken to many service members in the active-duty military, Reserves and National Guard who are repulsed by their association with this, and therefore repulsed by the uniform they wear. There are for sure countless more I have never spoken to. I know at least one, an airman like Bushnell, who just filed for Conscientious Objector status over it. So many of them have been in the protests in solidarity with Palestine across the country and found solace.

To those of you in uniform, there are many ways out, and it is far easier than you think. You can even do so publicly, in protest, and be more or less protected. You can walk away today. Every service member with a conscience should take those steps now.

Much more importantly than your own personal salvation, by doing so you can contribute to the mounting political crisis for Washington. The only thing that can stop this genocide is deepening that crisis—what more powerful turn of events than rebellion within the military?

Veterans, military families, those with links inside the military have a role too, to encourage those still in to take that stand, and provide them the tools to do so.

The anti-war organizing by soldiers and veterans within the military, and their leadership in the broader anti-war movement, had become dominant in 1970-71 and was a decisive factor in stopping the US killing spree in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. It can again today for Gaza.

I hope Aaron Bushnell is the last of us to do what he did. More so, I hope the fire he lit becomes a turning point for those becoming politically conscious within the ranks. If you were moved by him, there is only one way to honor him: to say “no”. Drop your CO packet. Go AWOL. Raise your voice in a way that disrupts the war machine and throws it into chaos. Join us in the streets instead of in despair. I wish Aaron Bushnell would have. But you can for him.

find a demonstration near you. Vigils will be held across the country for Aaron Bushnell in the coming days, including one I am helping organize in Portland, OR.
