PETER KOENIG—[dropcap]A[/dropcap]nother brutal military government came to power in 1964 by a coup d’état by the Armed Forces. The putchists overthrew the leftwing nationalist president Joao (Jango) Goulart, who was forced to flee the country and take asylum in neighboring Uruguay, and later Argentina. In exile, Goulart dedicated himself to ranching and private matters but this did not satisfy the ruling military, who feared his return. Thus, on Dec. 6, 1976, the press reported that Goulart had died of a heart attack in his apartment. Eventually, evidence accumulated confirming Brazilian politician Leonel Brizola’s accusation that both Juscelino Kubitschek and Goulart were assassinated in the frame of (CIA-sponsored) Operation Condor, and requested the opening of investigations of their deaths.

When America Was Great, Savage White Un-Settlers Raped a Continent and Assaulted a Planet
38 minutes readPAUL STREET—Who will tame the United States? With all due respect for the people and forces that have worked to undermine U.S global hegemony over many years, the final cards are held by the very Earth that so many U.S.-Americans have been falsely led to believe they could conquer. Nature bats last. The record-setting extreme weather that has hit the U.S. (“America”) in recent years are only early bases-on-balls compared to the late-inning World Series grand-slams Mother Nature is going to pulverize “America” and the world with in coming years. The real existential shit hits the fan when we can no longer grow, hunt, and fish enough food, find enough clean water, adequately cool our bodies, and fend off pandemics.

Welcome To Your Delusional Democracy: Why Boycotting the Vote Would Have Been the Best Option
15 minutes readJOEL HIRSCHHORN—There is a wonderful graph on Wikipedia showing US presidential election turnout over history. From about 1840 to 1900 it was varying around 75 percent to 80 percent. Then it declined steadily until about 1920, and from then to recent times it varied from around 50 percent to 60 percent. My main point is that you need some imagination and think about the many impacts of reducing turnout to say 30 percent. The whole world would interpret that as the rejection by Americans of their political system. It would be an incredible historic shock having the potential to remove the legitimacy and credibility of the current two-party duopoly. Our corrupt, delusional democracy would have received a bullet. Demand for truly reforming and fixing our political system would take on energy. Remember, the historic data showed this sharp decline in turnout happening once before. It can happen again, with your help. Boycott this presidential election.

Why my utopians vs. conformists distinction is important
10 minutes readCASSIODORUS—Bernie Sanders appears as a mild utopian who chose a conformist stance for the November election. The problem is more clear: the Left has no basis for political participation because its members subscribe to a politics that is not utopian enough. People are politically empowered when they believe they can get what they want from politics. It’s the utopian energy, energy fed by utopian dreams, that distinguishes meaningful politics from the neoliberal politics that has dominated America over the past forty years. Conformism is a waste of time. The existing system is doomed.
