CONN HALLINAN—The Israeli military is more than willing to take on Iranian forces in Syria, but a long-distance air war would get complicated. Iraq and Lebanon would try to block Israel from using their airspace to attack Iran, as would Turkey. The first two countries might not be able to do much to stop the Israelis, but flying over a hostile country is always tricky, particularly if you have to do it for an extended period of time. And anyone who thinks the Iranians are going to toss in the towel is delusional.

ERIC ZUESSE—It is impossible to turn one’s back on reality and deny that the State of Israel is not, likewise, an Apartheid state, and that as a result of this, Israeli democracy – which all its leaders and political pundits swear by – is being perverted, if not destroyed. This Apartheid has been entrenched in a system of laws, regulations and practices which govern the operation of state institutions. What characterizes most of those discriminatory laws that have been legislated in various Knesset is that on the surface, they do not appear to be discriminatory. However, a more in-depth analysis of some of the basic ones quickly reveals the extent to which they discriminate between “Jews” and “non-Jews”.

US Invested Heavily In Hitler, Compensated Europe’s Jews With Arab Land — Parts Two & Three (Revisited)
JAY JANSON—In a hopefully not to distant future the two populations of Palestine will again recognize and appreciate each other’s uniqueness, nobility and charm, as these two kindred peoples, did over centuries living next to each other as neighbors in their Middle East.
Now the sides are unevenly matched, with the European settlers far and away on top in every way, but there were centuries when Arabs were the technologically, militarily and culturally advanced civilization doing the conquering. Arabs introduced, to a Europe in the dark ages, the classical literature and philosophy of its Greek provinces that would spark Europe’s Renaissance. Couldn’t first world Jews in Israel be leading a Middle East Renaissance of technology?

JAY JANSON—At the end of the war, when ghastly, spine-chilling photos of the internment and murder of Jews in concentration camps were revealed, the public was shocked into some self-awareness. The most violent persecution, brutal arrests and internment had been done openly in a world basically owned and run by the “democratically’ elected legislatures of white industrialized nations, nations that had earlier used their edge in arms manufacture to conquer, colonize and exploit the whole non white population of the world.
When the difficult to behold newsreels and newspaper photos of the indescribably inhuman conditions inside the camps and of the cremation ovens, shame, guilt and agonized sympathy finally replaced a good deal of the long standing, pervasive, fierce antipathy and prejudice toward Jews.
ANDREW LEVINE—Overwrought identity politics does address the interests of subaltern groups in positive ways. However, the situation is more complicated than that. Black and brown people and victims of patriarchal attitudes are asserting themselves – boldly and to good effect. But, despite how things may appear, the class struggle has not gone missing. Quite to the contrary, American politics today is about what it has always been about: furthering the interests of still mostly white, still mostly male, titans of commerce, industry, and finance. It is about securing their power and wealth, and the capitalist system that makes their good fortune possible, from hostile political contestation. To that end, it helps that identity politics is all, or nearly all, there is.
