Old News is New News?
Why Now?
a.) The cost of the misadventure is getting much, much worse
b ) the war, clearly obvious to anyone with third grade reading ability, is unequivocally one of the worst US defeats in history; despite that being impolitic to accept.
c:) the midterms are coming; Trump will go down; the Democrats will rise. So, the media must get —not on the right side of history— but on the right side of the new Narrative.
You will see quotes from the Wall Street Journal, NBC news, the Guardian, the New York Times, the Atlantic and Robert Kagan, various commenters on X, and speculation about John Ratcliffe’s visit to Moscow, which appears to be pretty much pro forma.
I am frankly amazed that anyone would pay much attention to what writers in the Wall Street Journal or the New York Times or the Washington Post or other media in the West deliver as “news”.
“News”?
There is nothing new about this. It is old information, reported on variously in the Alt Media, by people such as Alastair Crooke, Nima, and many others, not to mention on Substack by various writers including myself.
Sigh…
We already knew that the US had suffered major damage in West Asia causing it to withdraw from most of its bases ignominiously, creating all manner of economic difficulties, and overrunning all calculated costs for the military.
We all knew about the problems of the Abraham Lincoln in the Gulf. We knew that the carrier would have to be replaced by the Washington, leaving the US without a functional carrier force in the Pacific. We knew that Trump’s economic sanctions would fail without the cooperation of China and Russia which was never going to come. We knew that Iran was looking for an excuse to obliterate Israel, leaving just a black stain on maps of West Asia, a simple act of justice. We knew that Trump had followed all the worst advice, seeking strategies in line with his delusions.
We knew that Iran had established through this war the foundation for a new political order in West Asia, not to mention energy markets, that sidelined the US.
So now the American media, anticipating the Democrats controlling both houses, thanks to Trump’s failed war, not just on Iran, but ultimately on Russia, and beyond that on countries that used to be trading partners and allies like Canada and now desperately seeking new relationships.
The AI Bubble increases, along with the debt. When the Bubble bursts, it will be nuclear — and the Dollar will die.
So there will be a reckoning. This is the Chinese Century.
The media would rather distract the public with old “news”, about Trump’s failures rather than talking about the real causes — the systemic ones, including corporatism and financialism, that have been threatening the US for a long time now.
Trump is just a guy with hair dye and a fake tan. And Iran is just a symptom of a disease affecting the whole world.

This video attracted my attention with the title: “Trump digs his own grave”. Whether or not Trump goes through yet another impeachment, his strategy of closed media events, and making the election all about himself, appealing to the maybe 10 percent of Americans who can be regarded as “core” supporters is indeed digging a deep hole.
But that is Trump. Everything has to be about Donnie.
It’s not about the US of A. It is not about any moral issue or ethical question. The average high school student understands economics better than he does, and I dare say military strategy. He sees himself as a “leader” but in fact he is more of a follower, cleaving to policies advocated by other nut jobs in a delusional past. He thinks he is moving forward when he is walking backwards, blindfolded.
On the other hand, the country lost its way years ago. He is just the most obvious Idiot-in-Chief in a long line of presidents who chipped away at the potential of the nation.
So while these midterms are all about Trump, that tells you something about the country. Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden, Trump… each left their own stain on memory. But the sins of the nation are not theirs - they are the nation’s, or more correctly the political culture of the nation, which was always corrupt and allowed to get even more corrupt as time goes on.
Trump will and his people will be replaced by others more cosmetically attractive to the status quo but nothing will change — it will only get worse in new ways.
I can’t lie
America will die.
I won’t cry.
Let us believe in a resurrected state that will be new and better.
