Adelsons’ $400M Influence-Peddling Play Helps Shapes Trump’s Mideast Policy
Israel’s military is currently annexing the Gaza Strip, resulting in the displacement of approximately 1.9 million Gazans and a tragic death toll of 56,000. President Trump described Gaza by saying, “Think of it as a real estate development for the future. It will be a beautiful piece of land.” But not for the people who live in Gaza.
Recently, the Israeli Knesset voted to annex the West Bank, posing a serious threat to around 3.2 million Palestinians who risk dispossession and loss of their homeland. Additionally, Israel’s recent military actions in the Golan Heights, following the collapse of the Assad regime in Syria, amount to a de facto annexation of that territory. Israel defends its actions by citing security, strategic necessity, and historical ties, along with the Torah’s influence, which portrays the Land of Israel as a divine inheritance for the Jewish people.
Israel has initiated a series of preemptive military operations aimed at Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure. This proactive and provocative approach seeks to disrupt Iran’s pursuit of atomic weapons, which Israel considers an imminent existential threat since 1995.
Trump has resolutely affirmed his unwavering support for Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. His strong stance reflects a deep commitment to Israel’s military initiatives and the strategic annexation of territories, which is displacing millions of Palestinians and could potentially escalate into a regional war.
Influence-Peddling Donations
Sheldon and Miriam Adelson, influential Zionists and dual citizens of Israel, made a remarkable $400 million (per Grok) in political donations over the last three presidential elections. This substantial financial support helped buy political influence, significantly shaped Trump’s pro-Israel agenda, and contributed to his election in 2016 and re-election in 2024.
For those unfamiliar with the Adelsons’ background, Miriam Adelson, who inherited the fortune of her late husband, Sheldon Adelson (died January 11, 2021), has an estimated net worth of $36 billion as of 2025. This wealth primarily comes from their ownership of Las Vegas Sands Corp. This global casino empire has sparked debates about the ethics and impacts of the gaming industry’s negative societal influence.
Notably, Jewish billionaires contributing to Trump’s 2024 campaign include Jan Koum ($2.4 million), Ike and Laura Perlmutter ($25 million), Bernie Marcus ($2.7 million), Jeff Yass (over $25 million), Stephen Schwarzman (unspecified millions), and Marc Rowan ($1 million). These large donations and the Adelsons are not against the law; they illustrate the issue of influence peddling in American politics.
Adelson’s backing was crucial in enabling Trump’s 2019 recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights and his assertion that West Bank settlements should not be considered illegal. This bias was evident in the appointment of individuals like Pastor Mike Huckabee as the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, who cites biblical claims to support Israel’s position.
Trump’s endorsement of Israel’s strikes on Hezbollah and Iran supports the Adelsons’ and Netanyahu’s ambition to diminish Iran’s influence in the region. However, this entrenched pro-Israel bias compromises the United States’ ability to facilitate meaningful peace negotiations.
If Trump reduces his support for Israel, he risks alienating key donors vital for funding important GOP initiatives, such as the Congressional Leadership Fund. Losing their backing could significantly weaken his strategy for the 2026 midterms and put the Trump Organization’s financial interests at risk, including investments in Trump meme coins, USD1 stable coin, and the upcoming public offering of American Bitcoin, a Bitcoin mining company.
Trump Paroles Israel Spy
Jonathan Pollard is a former American intelligence analyst who became a dual citizen and was imprisoned for espionage on behalf of Israel. He received a life sentence for violating the Espionage Act. During his time as a spy, he revealed numerous state secrets and disclosed the identities of thousands of individuals connected to U.S. intelligence agencies, putting their lives at risk. On January 21, 2021, Trump paroled Jonathan Pollard and pardoned his handler, who the U.S did not prosecute, Israeli Aviem Sella, a parting gift from Trump to Netanyahu facilitated by Adelsons advocacy.
President Trump has accomplished significant policy victories, including strengthening border security and repatriating migrants, dismantling divisive DEI initiatives, enacting impactful economic and tax reforms, and promoting energy deregulation to boost growth. Nevertheless, his shortcomings in managing foreign conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine/Russia significantly weaken his achievements.
