Glenn wonders what prompted Nuland to retire at this point, conjecturing that it might be her impatience with the pace of “support” for Ukraine, or Biden’s trepidation toward Israel, a country she identifies with more than any other, including the US. Nuland, notes Glenn, of Ukrainian descent, has long sat at the core of one of US Neocons most powerful clans, the Kagans, a group connected to the Kristols, both prominent in promoting (sadly, successfully), the extension of US “democracy and freedom” to other lands frequently via coups, regime change ops, invasions, sanctions, bribes, and color revolutions. In a way, the Neocons’ durability as effective warmongers stems from the fact that the Neocons and the US Empire’s goals coincide. The US imperium depends on a Pentagon economy to maintain its expansive momentum and hegemony, and the Neocons’ philosophy of endless war and imperialism, nicely couched in “National securatese”, provides the “authoritative cover” to get these ugly things sold to the political class, which is on board anyhow. In sum, the Neocons understand the mentality and the class imperatives of the US plutocracy, and play to that. Nuland remains one of the Neocons’ most adept players at this filthy game.

Droolin’ Nuland is a rat fleeing a sinking ship that she herself scuttled.
No doubt she will blame her catastrophic Ukraine failure on everybody else, perhaps exclaim, “F*ck the EU!!” and complain they were too “casualty averse” to add their own dead bodies to the pile.
