A President and His Troops Save Nation.

The capital of a late republic rarely announces its decline with trumpets. Sometimes it ignores it, sometimes it shouts We’re grand, and sometimes it descends into deep and dangerous farce.

This moment demands the latter as description.

So, to be redundant… Yes, Alice… America is a monster, and at this moment, even as it tries to escape recent military blunders, multiple assassinations of foreign leaders and perfidy on the level of Pearl Harbor, it has found comedy as both escape and as an example that its president is without question round the bend.

Enter Evil, Enter Farce and Enter Monster… The Algae Bloom that Attacked D.C.… think of that old movie The Blob… this one occupies Lincoln’s reflection.

Action provides the evidence.

This summer in Washington, D.C., armed National Guard troops stand watch, gathered around the Lincoln Memorial’s Reflecting Pool — on patrol… Not to repel invaders, not to protect citizens from attack, but, functionally, to babysit an algae bloom.

Yes, yes… The most symbolically loaded body of water in American civic life has gone emerald green, and instead of reading that as a warning about neglect and climate and unraveling institutions, a deranged president has decided it is sabotage.

Beware, Alert-Alert, The Enemy is in the Water.

Eventually all bombast requires blunders… And this time the bombast and the blunder march as one, along with the National Guard now lounging in the hot June sun in D.C.… they are on patrol for evildoers, terrorists, those who are trying to ruin the nation’s image, expose it like Dorian Gray’s closet painting but differently… Floating thick and foul and pungent, and beautiful emerald green… The reflecting pool has stopped reflecting cleanly, the lens is fouled like a cloudy emerald.

Alert, Alert beware. And so it goes… The emerald green that attacks the marble Lincoln; it comes for the republic too. At least that is what we may imagine is going on in the mind of our fearful leader. Donald J Trump, teetering at the edge of senility, and mobilizing your National Guard to attack algae.

The Guard has become necessary… Not Really… But in Trump’s mind because his attempt to fix the mess the same way he fixed that skating rink, so many years ago in once upon a time Manhattan. It has failed. When he was younger… then, he got away with it with naïve New York and ice… But this time, similar financial shenanigans employed as war on the algae bloom have failed him… 2 million morphing into more than ten was not enough held back, and Trump, his business success always the result of a lack of payment. This time Trump’s principles of finance have failed him, fought back, and the algae has returned. Forget assassinations, forget the flattened Gaza, the goal is now to control the ooze… and Trump, in deep senility, he is the perfect president to do it.

I could go on with metaphors and monsters, but I think this is enough.

Hello America… your president has lost his mind. He is now attacking algae and using your National Guard to help him…
