TEODROSE FRISKE—Look closely at his face. This is the face of an Iraqi soldier trying to escape death and was instead kissed by an inferno sponsored by our military-financial complex. This is the face of war that our criminal Corporate State Media never shows us and our malignant politicians never mention. We will never know his name; he is but a body count and one of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who were buried by the hubris of treacherous imperialists who use “defense of democracy” as a means of stealing the wealth of nations. Presidents come and presidents go—each one promising to deliver change. All of them lie as they continue a legacy of immoral wars and repugnant colonialism that is turning our nation into the blitzkrieg bully of this planet.

ROBERT FANTINA—When one is discussing a violent nation, one that disdains international law, hold human rights in contempt, and cares nothing for its reputation on the international stage, one is generally discussing either the United States or Israel. They are so often complicit in each other’s crimes, and that fact is becoming clearer as each nation is led by an unstable, corrupt and egotistical mad man.
When “Support Our Troops” Becomes a Slogan to Support Militarism
11 minutes readJACK PERRY—We spend a lot of money on the VA, which is a socialized medical care system. The irony is conservative veterans sit and blast “socialism” and “socialist health care” while, at the same time, applauding and defending the socialized health care system they have. Basically, they got theirs and to hell with the civilians. They lash out with anger at any proposed VA cut, but lash out with equal anger if a public health care system is proposed for everyone else. They say, “I don’t want to pay for everyone else’s health care!” Yeah? Maybe everyone else is tired of paying for yours. Maybe it’s time to say “Everyone or no one”.
ERIC ZUESSE—I haven’t done any scientific study of the sources that are cited in Wikipedia’s many footnotes and whether sites such as Murray’s and RT are banned from them, but this article by Murray does suggest that the bias in favor of mainstream, and against small, ‘news’media, does adhere to the pattern that’s succinctly stated by “Andrew H.” Murray presents remarkable documentary evidence that this is Wikipedia’s pattern. “Andrew H” seems to believe that it’s the right pattern to adhere to.

“Most spy thrillers are written from the assumption that we’re the good guys who are under attack by bad guys so evil that we’re justified in bending the rules to save ourselves from them. Lies, deceit, sabotage, even murder are sometimes necessary to defend peace, justice, and the American Way against (pick one, depending on when the book was written) Nazis, communists, or terrorists. Gaither Stewart offers no such patriotic platitudes in The Trojan Spy. The bad guys turn out to be us — the US and its Western allies. Our intelligence agencies are revealed to be working in a symbiotic relationship with the terrorists, using the attacks to provide justification for wars of geopolitical and economic conquest.
Stewart’s subversive heresy guarantees that The Trojan Spy will be ignored by the propaganda machines of the corporate mass media. It’s a dangerous book, and a very good one — characters with complex personalities who act in unexpected ways, a well-structured story full of surprises, authentically rendered settings, and a direct but graceful narrative style. If Stewart had followed the conventions of the genre, reinforcing the myth that the West is the Best, The Trojan Spy could have been boosted by the media into a best seller. But it’s a better book than that — a book that tells the truth.”
