CHINESE ARE OFFERING UNCAPPED SALARIES + SERIOUS R&D MONEY FOR PHDS IN CHIPMAKING. LIVE AND WORK IN THE CLEANEST, SAFEST, NICEST PLACE ON EARTH. PASS IT ALONG… RADIO SINOLAND 260105
Comment from China Writer Wei Ling Chua
China always does the right things in building a solid foundation for tech advancement step by step with resolved, patients, hardwork, ethics and strategies bullying and looting are simply not in the DNAs of this advances civilization by sanctioning China $300b a year chip import, US and Europe not only lost (forever) the world largest chip market, but created a powerful competitor that will eventually kill their chip industry for good by continuing rejecting China Win Win values, those still me-only Western countries will soon become developing countries burdened by rising debt, devaluing currency, high cost of living, poverty, and social unrest
By endorsing the Chinese Belt and Road win-win formula, Hungary, Serbia, and Greece will become a handful of successful economies in Europe, EU, a ME-only rigid European imperialistic institution has become a barrier for member states to join the belts and roads, will be disintegrated sooner than imagined
Yes, China’s Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics, and Physics (CIOMP) offered “uncapped” salaries and huge research grants (up to ¥5M total) to PhDs for developing advanced chipmaking tech, like ASML alternatives, to overcome US sanctions, part of a massive national push for tech self-sufficiency in semiconductors and AI, offering significant bonuses and housing to attract top talent, even luring foreign-trained experts with big signing bonuses and perks, notes.
Key Details:
- The Institute: Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics, and Physics (CIOMP), part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
- The Offer: “Uncapped” salaries for special researchers (PhD level) in optics, mechanics, electronics, and materials, plus massive research grants and subsidies.
- The Goal: To achieve technological self-sufficiency, particularly in advanced semiconductor lithography, to counter US export restrictions.
- Broader Strategy: This initiative is a key part of China’s “Manhattan Project” for chips, offering huge incentives (signing bonuses, housing) to lure experts, including former foreign talent, to build domestic capabilities in areas like EUV lithography.
Why It Matters:
- Tech Rivalry: Shows China’s intense focus on closing the technology gap with the West in critical areas like AI and advanced chip manufacturing.
- Talent Acquisition: Demonstrates aggressive tactics to attract global expertise to overcome bottlenecks.
- National Priority: Highlights how vital semiconductor independence is to China’s strategic tech goals, driving massive funding and recruitment.
