CHARLIE BAUSMAN—I am continually amazed at the schizophrenia in America regarding so many things, but especially Russia and RussiaGate. It is very helpful to sometimes wonder over to the other camp and listen in. I did this by accident this morning, reading the New York Times, and could think of nothing better than to just reproduce in full what they are saying. It requires no comment and no refutation. It is perfect on its own, like a cockroach is perfect.
NEOCONS & NEOLIBERALS
DAVID W. PEAR—Every four years the US regime uses the Olympics as an opportunity to rain chaos and hate during the Olympics’ historical tradition of bringing the world’s best athletes together in celebration of world unity, human dignity, fraternity among all nations and the possibilities when nations come together in peace. Happiness, unity and peace are a threat to the paranoid US regime, which is dedicated to war, death, and chaos. Like a drone hurling bombs at wedding parties and funerals, the unpredictable US regime tries to sabotage anything good and decent that might come from a peaceful gathering of nations.
ANOTHER WARMONGER REWARDED FOR BEING WRONG ON IRAQ WAR
6 minutes readADAM JOHNSON—Of 46 current staff columnists, three—Michael Gerson, Mitch Daniels, Ed Rogers—actually worked for the George W. Bush administration, or (in the case of Rogers) with a private consulting group working on war planning with the Bush administration, when the invasion took place. This means the Post currently has on staff 50 percent more people who helped carry out one of the biggest war crimes of the 21st century than columnists who opposed it.
Robert Parry’s Legacy and the Future of Consortiumnews
37 minutes readNAT PARRY—Earlier assurances that it would the Iraq invasion would be a “cakewalk” proved as false as the WMD claims, but as had been so often the case in Washington, there was little to no accountability from the mainstream media, the think tanks or government officials for being so spectacularly wrong.
CAITLIN JOHNSTONE—Anyone with even a drop of self-awareness knows that the cuddly wuddly new image Dubya is enjoying in mainstream America is taking Trump hysteria a bridge too far. Even MSNBC stooge Chris Hayes said not long ago that “The Iraq War was worse than anything Donald Trump has done (so far).” Yeah, they like to say that. What they never, ever like to do is acknowledge the far more uncomfortable fact that as bad as Trump is, he also still hasn’t done anything as bad as what the Obama administration did to Libya.
