Watching the NATO hoopla and the simply ridiculous ceremonies and speeches in Vilnius, exercises in transparent propaganda with the assist of a highly cooperative audience (Lithuanians have a long tradition of rightwing, Russophobic and imperialist sympathies, about which more below), I thought the NATO fest was the cynical culmination of a process of truth denial, of naked historical revisionism, that for at least 20 years has engulfed Europe and the US, with the intent of deleting and upending the facts about World War 2, and more specifically, edited out the great contributions of the Russian people to the liberation of Europe and the world from the pestilence of Nazism. (BTW, the systematic demonisation of Russia —a very old Western project—has helped London and Washington in their effort to whitewash Nazis of their repugnant legacy, and thereby weaken the antifascist impulse. Just witness how even Jewish-controlled media platforms like Facebook, for example, have shifted their hypocritical and unilaterally defined "community rules" from condemnation of Ukraine's Nazis to total acceptance and even praise for such misguided characters, with few voices noticing or protesting).

President Biden delivered remarks at Vilnius University after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday to discuss support for Ukraine. "We will not waver," Mr. Biden said. "Our commitment to Ukraine will not weaken. We will stand for liberty and freedom today, tomorrow and for as long as it takes." In earlier remarks with other G7 members, Mr. Biden said the leaders were "launching the Joint Declaration support for Ukraine to make it clear that our support will last long into the future."
Now, for the unvarnished truth. I humbly collected some compelling testimonies. First, let's see what Wikipedia says on this topic. Remember that Wikipedia is a heavily redacted, some say is CIA-editorially-patrolled, source. But I guess not even they can deny the mountain of evidence still standing:
The Holocaust in Lithuania
1. The Holocaust in Lithuania resulted in the near total destruction of Lithuanian (Litvaks) and Polish Jews,[a] living in Generalbezirk Litauen of Reichskommissariat Ostland within the Nazi-controlled Lithuanian SSR. Out of approximately 208,000–210,000 Jews, an estimated 190,000–195,000 were murdered before the end of World War II, most of them between June and December 1941. More than 95% of Lithuania's Jewish population was massacred over the three-year German occupation – a more complete destruction than befell any other country affected by the Holocaust.[citation needed] Historians attribute this to the massive collaboration in the genocide by the non-Jewish local paramilitaries, though the reasons for this collaboration are still debated.[1][2][3][4] The Holocaust resulted in the largest-ever loss of life in so short a period of time in the history of Lithuania.[4]
The events that took place in the western regions of the USSR occupied by Nazi Germany in the first weeks after the German invasion, including Lithuania, marked a sharp intensification of the Holocaust.[5][6][7][b]
The occupying Nazi German administration fanned antisemitism by blaming the Soviet regime's annexation of Lithuania in June 1940, on the Jewish community. To a large extent the Nazis also drew upon the physical organization, preparation and execution of their orders by local Lithuanian collaborators.[2][3]
As of 2020, the topic of the Holocaust in Lithuania and the role played by Lithuanians in the genocide, including several notable Lithuanian nationalists, remains controversial.[8]

Lithuanian partisans is a generic term used during World War II by Nazi officials[1] and quoted in books by modern historians[2][3] to describe Lithuanian anti-communist fighters, thus collaborators with the Nazis during the first months of the German occupation of Lithuania during World War II. A part of the Lithuanian partisans who fought against the Red Army during the June Uprising, were later organized into various auxiliary units by German Nazis. A minority of the units assisted and actively participated in mass executions of the Lithuanian Jews mostly in June–August 1941.
The term "Lithuanian partisans" might apply to several different and unrelated groups during 1941 and later:
- A group led by Nazi agent Algirdas Klimaitis and active in Kaunas at the end of June 1941
- Tautinio Darbo Apsaugos Batalionas (TDA) was formed in Kaunas as basis for independent Lithuanian army, but soon transformed into a Nazi auxiliary unit participating in executions of the Jews at the Seventh and Ninth Forts
- Rollkommando Hamann and its Lithuanian auxiliaries from TDA, responsible for mass murders in the countryside[4]
- Lithuanian Police Battalions formed in Vilnius from 3,600 deserters from the 29th Lithuanian Territorial Corps of the Red Army[5]
- Ypatingasis būrys formed in Vilnius and participant in the Ponary massacre
Lithuania has a checkered history when it comes to Holocaust remembrance. The Nazi’s Lithuanian collaborators under German occupation were involved in many atrocities, including the massacres at Paneriai, a present-day suburb of Vilnius, where 70,000 Jews were killed between 1941 and 1944. Lithuanian battalions performed guard duty and organized deportations at the Majdanek death camp in Poland and the Warsaw Ghetto.
Jewish leaders objected when, in 2020, Lithuanian lawmakers considered a law that would have declared that neither Lithuania nor its leaders could be blamed for participating in the Holocaust because the country was occupied. Amid the rise in nationalism across Eastern Europe, streets, schools and monuments have been named for Lithuanian collaborators. NOTE: Something tells me this law, with its paltry funding, was maybe nudged into being (or outright financed) by the Americans, an effort to clean the soiled face of Lithuanians, as Washington, always sensitive to the optics, has long planned to use and is using the Baltic statelets as strategic assets against Msocow.
4. I have also found useful materials at EUvsDISINFO. This website's purpose seems to be the debunking of "Russian disinformation". But in order to induce credibility for their attacks on truth, they often very skilfully summarise the pro-Russian point of view. But guess what...In so doing, I think they also end up unwittingly convincing those not totally brainwashed about the truth in the Russian version of history! In any case, it is known by now that in "the collective West" all historical/political truth that does not conform with the official narrative as formulated by Washington and London's Orwellian "WOKE imperialism" is simply "disinformation". Take the below assertion, for example, which this site then tries to negate as false, as being just disinformation by the evil Russians. Be sure to read the summary in black bloc (the supposedly false statement, the "disinfo" part), followed by the "disproof" in the orange bloc.
Anti-Semitism, anti-Sovietism and Russophobia, in general, are the basis of modern Lithuanian identity. Lithuanians consider those who murdered Jews and collaborated with Nazis as national heroes. It is an official historical concept. (Author's note: This sounds identical to what we see in Ukraine?).

Another example. This one, being recent history, takes the tart:
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about Nazis in the EU, which have been repeatedly debunked (see here). This is part of a disinformation campaign aiming to justify Russia’s unjustified military invasion of Ukraine. It is also consistent with disinformation narratives about Nazi Ukraine and it being a non-sovereign, West-ruled country. The myth of a Nazi Europe has been widely used by Putin and pro-Kremlin outlets since Russia attacked Ukraine and illegally annexed its peninsula of Crimea in 2014. It is Moscow's attempt to manipulate, twist and re-write history and to monopolise the role of victim in the Second World War. The European Union is not a nazi-construct. The EU was set up with the exact opposite aim: of ending the frequent and bloody wars between neighbours, which culminated in the Second World War. The founders of the EU have no connection with Nazis. The Nazi ideology and the EU are based on opposite values and principles. Read more here. In 2012, the EU was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for advancing the causes of peace, reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe. Most countries which provide Ukraine with aid now were fighting Nazism back then. They were providing support for the former Soviet Union during its war with Nazi Germany. Last, but not least, let me quote here the excellent John Wight, who happens to have penned a piece on the NATO summit that speaks volumes about this conveniently forgotten Lithuanian holocaust. I will use some long excerpts because his eloquence demands it, but be sure to read his entire article on Medium:
The Nato Summit in Vilnius merely makes Putin’s point John Wight (excerpts) In his 1988 personal memoir of life as a Jew during the Nazi occupation of Lithuania — Kaddish for Kovno: Life and Death in a Lithuanian Ghetto — William W. Mishell makes the salient point that “Under Germany we [the Jews of Lithuania] were doomed. Under the Russians we were free.” Given that memory loss is now all the rage in capitals across the Western hemisphere, let us take a moment to look back at the history of the Holocaust in Lithuania and the role that many non-Jewish citizens of this small — and now NATO-member-state — played in collaboration with it. Remembering, after all, is the least we can do in tribute to the dead. In Berlin on 17 November 1940 the far right anti-Soviet Lithuanian Activist Front (LAF) was founded by a group of Lithuanian émigrés under the former Lithuanian envoy to Berlin, Colonel Kazys Škirpa. Their objective was to unite the anti-Soviet underground in Lithuania with the help of the Nazis. However their goal was not only to free Lithuania from Soviet control, it was also to cleanse the country of its Jewish population. Consider, in this regard, part of the proclamation announcing the LAF’s formation to Lithuania’s Jewish community:
The Nazi occupation of Lithuania saw the grim prophecy of William W. Mishell come to pass. The country’s Jews were indeed doomed. Just prior to Hitler’s Operation Barbarossa being launched against the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, the LAF issued another proclamation, this time to the country’s non-Jewish population:
Decent sorts, I’m sure you’ll agree. According to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Holocaust Encyclopedia , ninety percent of Lithuania’s Jewish population were murdered by the Germans and their Lithuanian collaborators, formed into special auxiliary battalions. It was one of the highest rates of Holocaust victims in Nazi-occupied Europe, and the slaughter continued right up until Lithuania was liberated from Nazi occupation by the Red Army in the summer of 1944.

Thoroughly corrupt and self-deluded, as is fitting for a fraudulent organisation, NATO is proud to have Lithuania and her fellow rabidly Russophobic, pro-Nazi countries, under its wing. Worse, this malignant organisation is still daydreaming about its industrial potential for bellicose ends. Coercion again appears to this bunch as a viable tool in the near future. But the world and technology have moved on, and reality can't be bought. For-profit arms production will never match nationalised production centers. Just read Andrei Martyanov on the subject if you don't believe me. The US simply lost its immense military supremacy some time ago due to greed and endemic corruption. And the West, no matter how much puffing and huffing, will never defeat Eurasia just through conventional weapons. That locomotive also left the station long ago. That leaves of course the unthinkable, which Western propaganda has somehow managed to make not only thinkable, but not even urgent. While the Russian and Chinese publics are fully aware of the peril, the Western public is virtually asleep. But with nukes, as anyone with an iota of common sense knows, an all-out fight is mutual suicide. That's why Wight—presuming a nuclear clash— is on firm ground when he somberly warns:

My maternal grandmother came from Lithuania. Our family knew only that her sister and cousin lived in Israel. They escaped across the USSR in 1943, to end up in Palestine. When I asked about pictures of her family on a mantle, ‘who are they?’ She said ‘my family’. ‘Where are they?’ ‘They’re dead’. ‘How?’ ‘Hitler killed them.’
That was my first and most formative history lesson.
Terrific article. This is one of the reasons I keep coming back to TGP. And special kudos to the author.
Perhaps I could add something to this discussion as my parents were in Lithuania during the times written about here.
They were classmates and their best friend who was a student, and also a cousin of my father’s, who was a teacher, were among those so brutally killed in Rainiu Forest that only 23 of the bodies could be identified of the 70+ who were killed. They were skinned, cut up, eyes gouged out. …There was even a Soviet soldier who was found dead with a bullet in his back, apparently wanting to leave as he couldn’t take it anymore.
Who was responsible for this? A Jew! What is not mentioned is that most Jews were Bolsheviks and in leadership positions responsible for atrocities against the population (does one need to be reminded what the ethnicity was of the leaders who overthrew and killed the Czar and brought communism to Russia though he was already moving in the direction of more freedoms for Russians?). A cousin of mine who grew up in Telsiai, when we went to see the memorial for those killed, said, “If the Lithuanians were such Jew-haters, as is often said, why did the man who was responsible, and everyone in Telsiai knew that he was, was able to walk freely? No Lithuanian who had the opportunity to put an axe through his skull did so. He live in Telsiai until Lithuanian regained independence and then moved to Israel where he died later.
There were no progroms against Jews in the interwar years when Lithuanians ruled themselves. The atrocities against Jews came with the Nazis. And if Lits participated, you don’t think some of it could have been revenge for what had been done to them when the Soviets had occupied?
I will also recount what an old man who was a guide at the Lukiskiu Jail in Vilnius said when we took a tour. He had been incarcerated there. He said, “If you were taken to be interrogated, and you were told it would be a Jew, grit your teeth, since they were the most brutal”,
Why are there Lithuanians in Canada and the US who emigrated there after the war? Another inconvenient truth: they thought that they were leaving their home country for a short time and would be able to return when the end of war protocols were signed. And why didn’t they? Because Roosevelt, who held all the power since Europe was so devastated, made a deal with Stalin. Stalin wanted a buffer against the West as they had been invaded from there several times, and Roosevelt was still fighting the Japanese and and it wasn’t going so well. So, Roosevelt told Stalin that he could stay in the Baltics and Poland ( he was told not to close churches in Poland) but Stalin would help fight the Japanese. This “guarantee” is in the National Archives though how many are taught this in school? I knew of this from a young age as my mother, because she spoke 5 languages, worked for the US Army as a translator in the American Zone Displaced Persons Camps (hmmm, why were they displaced???)were she was. Is this in a textbook anywhere? Susan Butler, a Roosevelt scholar, has written a comprehensive book about their relationship, “Roosevelt and Stalin”.
Lithuania, it was not mentioned, was the only country which the Nazis occupied that couldn’t get a local SS Unit together. Because the young men would not join, the Nazis punished them by closing the universities and colleges.My parents were students at the time, so couldn’t continue their pharmacology studies. My father returned to his hometown where he tutored high school students and my mother worked as an assistant in a pharmacy in her hometown.She also mentioned that she had been looking out of the pharmacy window when a group of Nazi soldiers were leading a Lithuanian farmer and a Jew shackled together to be shot! And not the only incident of this sort.
Lithuania is also the country which saved the most Jews in proportion to its population. As a Jewish woman who had been saved as a child said later, “It takes one person with a gun to kill 100. It took 100 to keep the secret to save one person.” My mother’s uncle and wife had no children but took in 3 Jewish children. In this small village, it was known, but the secret kept!
And how do the Jews repay the Lithuanians? Because they don’t make a big fuss, they are constantly slandered and attacked. I would think that those in glass houses should be the last to throw stones, as the world is silent to the genocide and land grabbing that is taking place against the Palestinians all these years! Using bullets that explode and shooting
children in the knees so that they will be handicapped for life??!! For throwing stones??!!

All comments are moderated since we get many hacking attacks through them and it has cost us dearly. So sometimes it takes a bit to get it published. Also, we are chiefly a volunteer site, no one gets a penny here for their work. Just post your comment as usual and it will be seen and posted. No need to insult anyone. As for the Wikipedia, I think Havel says outright that the Wikipedia is NOT to be trusted, still, NOT even them can cover up widely known atrocities (although they try). So your rebuke about Wikipedia, suggesting some sort of treason on our part, is totally groundless. And one more thing: The most effective propaganda is one that sprinkles some truth here and there to maintain credibility.

I can understand that it may take a while to get to reading a comment, especially one as long as this one, but it had been up, then disappeared.
I had to smile when I read that “Havel says outright that the Wikipedia is NOT to be trusted” and yet uses it as a source??!!And you still printed his article??He couldn’t find others, more credible ones?
Did I suggest or imply “treason” anywhere? Don’t think so.It’s just that it was a great disappointment that such an article was published by Consortium News, a site which I respected and forwarded to others.
I can add so many points about what life was like for Jews in independent Lithuania that the capital, Vilnius, was called “The Jerusalem of the North” but what is on topic, I covered.
Many people whom I spoke to when there last month are not happy with the current government and their making decisions which are not in the national interest but in the interest of the US which is responsible for the Soviet occupation that cost many lives and pain.The US that is responsible as well for wars in other countries in pursuit of hegemony and profit.
BTW- I did read E. Bernay’s book , “Propaganda”.

It’s obvious that you are here only to troll this site via disgusting smears. A simple search of our archives would have shown you many articles highly critical of Israel, but you obviously did not bother to look. (Just see this article: ONLY NAZIS SUPPORT ISRAEL NOW https://www.greanvillepost.com/2023/07/25/only-nazis-support-israel-now/). As well, the article you object so vociferously to contains plenty of sources that you could take issue with, or engage them directly—including Wikipedia itself—but apparently have not done so. The quote from Wikipedia was demonstrative, that is, we showed it to prove that even a CIA-controlled asset is unable to completely deny the facts about Lithuanian history, although they are busy elsewhere and especially the utterly corrupt EU, representing European capital and its imperialists, covering everything up with new glowing reviews about the Baltic statelets being exemplars of democracy. Ha! They are no more democratic than the US is.
