Major Watson, an active-duty service member, was arrested last month after citing the Trump administration’s policy in Venezuela, Iran and the immigration enforcement crackdown. He specifically characterized the war in Iran as “an act of American aggression.”
Yesterday, in a CNN interview, Watson said that Trump is flagrantly violating the Constitution and he hopes his actions inspire Americans to act. He continued, “If I didn’t put myself out there in a big way, then it’s just noise.” He asked himself “What is the highest price I’m willing to pay? And this is what I came up with.” He said he’s willing to accept military punishment for his dissent. Watson said that his public dissent was motivated by his oath to the constitution.
