MARGARET KIMBERLEY—The United States is determined to have hegemony, full spectrum dominance, over the entire world. This simple fact means that U.S. hands are never clean and Ukraine is no exception. There is no reason to expect a Russian invasion of Ukraine. The threat is as real as Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction. If nothing else, memories must be long enough to recall the war propaganda used in the past. To sum up, Black people should know that the U.S. has instigated this entire affair and any statements made by Joe Biden, his spokespeople, or his foreign policy team must be disregarded. 

Joe Biden has quite literally created this supposed threat out of whole cloth. Any photos purporting  to show Russian troop movements should be thought of in the same vein as Colin Powell’s dog and pony show at the United Nations in 2003. Powell said that ordinary trucks were chemical weapons laboratories yet the resulting invasion turned up nothing that George W. Bush claimed to be a legitimate pretext for war.

CAITLIN JOHNSTONE—It’s not that I always side against the US, it’s that I side against whatever side is in the wrong and that tends to be the most powerful and destructive regime in the world. If you don’t believe the US could be consistently on the wrong side of foreign policy disputes, it’s because you’ve been extensively propagandized about its behavior on the world stage. It can’t rightly be called anti-US bias if your criticisms of the US are unassailably correct. You simply cannot dispute the fact that no other government is doing anything that rises anywhere near the level of depravity as spending the 21st century (and much of the 20th) killing millions of human beings in wars of aggression.

Last week, the European Union announced over $1 billion in funding for “Green Deal” projects supposedly aimed at facilitating a “clean energy transition.” But the largest chunk of the cash – about $700 million – will directly benefit Israel, including its colonies built on occupied Palestinian land. The European Union claims to oppose those settlements, regularly acknowledging that they are built in violation of international law. The new money will go towards constructing the EuroAsia Interconnector, an underwater cable that will tie Israel’s electricity grid to Europe’s.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson has aggressively pushed back against the dominant pro-war narrative in Washington’s elite circles, and CNN’s Jim Acosta isn’t having it. Trotting out every red-baiting, McCarthyite smear at his disposal, Acosta all but accuses Carlson of being on Putin’s payroll, but conveniently neglects to mention how his own network is entirely in bed with some of the worst dictatorial regimes in the Middle East. Jimmy and comedian Kurt Metzger discuss the predictable but despicable push for war coming from “the most trusted name in news.”

Many years ago, the US moved intermediate range missiles into Turkey and Italy, aimed at the Soviet Union. The Soviets did not appreciate this action, so they proceeded to move their similar missiles into Cuba. The result was a huge uproar and end-of-world hysteria, but the US quietly withdrew its missiles and the Soviets turned around and also took their missiles back home. The two countries learned their lesson and proceeded to negotiate arms-control agreements. Fast forward a half-century and the US decided to try the same maneuver again by moving weapons closer and closer to the Russian border while ditching many of the arms-control agreements. The Russians were not amused and suggested that Russia might move weapons closer to the US border in response. In addition, the president of Russia had some long discussions with the presidents of Cuba and Venezuela, which sparked more speculation that something was afoot.
