MARK ASHWILL—Malignant narcissists are also incapable of accepting responsibility for their mistakes because they don’t make mistakes, e.g., “I don’t take responsibility at all” for his government’s lack of preparedness. (This includes abolishing President Obama’s White House pandemic office.) Trump simply finds someone or something else to blame, be it China, “fake news,” people of color, or anyone who criticizes him. They don’t hesitate to throw gasoline on the smoldering embers of racial enmity and hatred as long as they achieve their goal of evading responsibility and finding a suitable scapegoat. The coronavirus becomes the “foreign” or “Chinese” virus.

MoA—There was a time when I regularly bought the FT weekend edition to read the economic discussions in it. The weekend edition also has a section that is titled “How to spend it”. The newest luxury cars are tested and the greatest estates are discussed in it. I never had a craving to buy any of the things that section promoted. I thought that the snobbish section title was probably meant to be ironic. Now the FT has finally found the right content for that section.
PHILIP A. FARRUGGIO—The guys who come by and pick up our trash and recyclables each week; The man or woman who wipes the ass of our relative in the nursing home and bathes them; the cleaning ladies who breath in the dust and allergens in our offices or homes, or those aforementioned paramedics who carry us to the emergency rooms… THEY are more vital than those highly paid minions who parrot either of the Two Party/One Party propaganda on air each day.

Ironic: Progressive voices can be heard on Fox but not on “liberal” media. Why is Corporate Media trying to erase Tulsi?
PATRICE GREANVILLE—Tucker Carlson’s program often serves as a media refuge for voices normally banned by the mainstream liberal media. How ludicrously ironic is that? Tucker’s perch is on Fox News, for chrissakes, one of the most blatantly dishonest media channels around, and yet, it is his program that frequently features people like Tulsi Gabbard, or which asks the questions no one else dares to ask. Good for him, even if we sometimes totally disagree with his positions.

HERBERT SCHILLER–The fundamental similarity of the informational material and cultural messages that each of the mass media independently transmits makes it necessary to view the communications systern as a totality. The media are mutually and continuously reinforcing. Since they operate according to commercial rules, rely on advertising, and are tied tightly to the corporate economy and its worldview, both in their own structure and in their relationships with sponsors, the media constitute an industry, not an aggregation of independent, freewheeling informational entrepreneurs, each offering a highly individualistic product. By need and by design, therefore, the images and messages they purvey, are, with few exceptions, constructed to achieve similar objectives, which are, simply put, profitability and the affirmation and maintenance of the private ownership consumerist society.
