MoA—Bloomberg’s dropping huge sums of money: on staff and resources, on TV advertisements, and on Facebook ads, where Trump has long dominated. And he’s attempting to overcome his stodgy public image with the help of a meme army and through well-catered campaign events seemingly designed to convince voters that life under a wealthy technocrat might not be so bad.

MARGARET KIMBERLEY—Bloomberg’s impact on New York will be felt for years to come. He described New York as “a luxury product” and he acted accordingly by accelerating the displacement of black people through gentrification. In order to make sure that black New Yorkers got the memo and quickly left town he instituted the notorious stop and frisk police program.

DARWIN HOLMSTROM—In his first brush with the law, Epstein had the varsity squad of servants of the rich protecting him, heavy hitters such as Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz, Palm Beach county state attorney Barry Krischer, and the Miami office U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta. They came close to getting Epstein off completely, but ultimately had to settle for his serving a little time in what amounted to a state-funded bed and breakfast retreat. Epstein’s initial lenient sentence began to make a bit more sense after the public learned that Acosta had arranged for Epstein to avoid the same punishment a mere peasant would face because Epstein “belonged to intelligence.”
