[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s social and ecoanimal activists, or, put more broadly, people who are quite aware of the sordid selfishness and criminality that so many humans are capable of (a feature that in our species frequently translates into systemic, entrenched evil), it is always wonderful to see that in spite of so much pain and corruption there’s always someone who performs an act of kindness toward someone weak and innocent, the best possible manifestation of this extraordinary virtue. When that happens, our batteries are suddenly restored.
