[dropcap]D[/dropcap]uring the Yellow Vest demonstration in Paris on April 20, 2019 - known as "Acte 23" - tear gas was fired almost constantly at protesters for over 5 hours. This was the first demonstration after the tragic fire at Notre Dame Cathedral, and the national protest focus was on Paris that day. However, the use of police brutality has not been at all exceptional at French protests since at least 2010, according to longtime PressTV Paris correspondent Ramin Mazaheri, who stayed on camera during a live interview in order to give viewers an idea of what is commonplace in the nation which repeatedly claims to be the "birthplace of human rights".
